The pair faced the press after taking in their surroundings at the impressive Allianz Arena on Monday evening 24 hours before facing four-time European champions Bayern Munich.
The German club is vastly experienced at this level of competition compared to City, but manager and striker were in accord when asked about the Blues could fare.
When asked if City could win,
Mancini responded, "Why not? We're here to win if possible, but we know it will be difficult.
"We're here to win, but we know that anything can happen. When I managed Inter we lost the first two games, but still got to the second stage. It's important that we remember we have six games, I think that we can get through with 10 points."
Admitting City were nervous at times against Napoli, Mancini added, "We wanted to win, but it was important to get a draw and not lose at home in the Champions League. Sometimes the pressure can lead to mistakes, but here I think it will be different. I'm sure we will do well tomorrow night."
Dzeko was back on familiar territory, having played Bayern several times while at Wolfsburg, and he said he is aiming to improve his record against the Bavarian club.
"I have not got a good record against Bayern, so that's always going to be motivation to score against such a club as them.
"But this is why I am here, it's to play against a team like Bayern Munich, one of the best teams in the world. That's why we all came to Manchester City.
"There are still five games to play, we don't have to win but we want to and that's our target. Of course it won't be easy but I think we have a strong team like Bayern."
