Wait till you hear that their inspiration was the Mau Mau in the 1950's. The Mau Mau was said to have used their treadmark dreadlocks to instill fear on the whiteman. Others say that the dreadlocks was part of the Mau Mau oath, which they all took to bind them together, and to their cause. Well the Jamaicans took it up from the Mau Mau and popularised it.
