The Mau Mau, its spy unit, the Komerera and the women combatants.

I always wondered...Was Mau Mau purely a Kikuyu outfit/organization?Were their any other tribes involved with them during that time? From the little history I know seems they were the main force used to evict the white man..Did the others contribute?

Let me google it...They always fascinated me...

(Starts searching google...)
I know that the last of the Mau Mau Generals to come out of hiding, in the forest together with his men, General Baimunge was not Kikuyu. Anyway feel free to put up your findings, on this thread.

If you thought Jamaicans invented the art of wearing dreadlocks to drive a particular point home, or for whatever individual reasons. Wait till you hear that their inspiration was the Mau Mau in the 1950's. The Mau Mau was said to have used their treadmark dreadlocks to instill fear on the whiteman. Others say that the dreadlocks was part of the Mau Mau oath, which they all took to bind them together, and to their cause. Well the Jamaicans took it up from the Mau Mau and popularised it.
