The ODM National Elections 28/2/2014

  • 5:55pm: The party elections at Kasarani are called off until further notice following the chaos that have marred the exercise. Most delegates have left the venue not having achieved what brought them here.

  • 5:40pm: GSU officers take over as delegates ordered to leave the premises.
  • 5:36pm: Prof Anyang' Nyong'o on the podium, urges delegates to stay calm.
  • 5:30pm: Police officers arrive at the scene as some delegates are seen leaving Kasarani.

Outgoing Secretary General Anyang' Nyong'o has called off indefinitely ODM party elections that were underway following chaos that erupted at Kasarani Gymnasium.Chaos rocked the gymnasium after a section of delegates led by nominated MP Isaac Mwaura stormed the venue claiming names of some candidates were omitted from the ballot papers.Violent youth turned tables and destroyed ballot boxes and tore papers before armed police entered the venue to quel the chaos. Delagates are now leaving thestadium.

The party had earlier in the day passed resolution to create nine newpositions in a move that upset part of the delegates.Delegates from the Coastregion walked out in protest as soon as the resolution was passed.More to follow...

The Orange Democratic Movement party electionsaborted on Friday after a group of delegates led by nominated Member of Parliament Isaac Mwaura caused mayhem at the Kasarani Sports Gymnasium.

Trouble started when men dressed in black suits overturned tables, smashed ballot boxes and destroyed election materials, insisting that the polls could not proceed unless they were furnished with party registers.

Soon after the chaos started, CORD leader Raila Odinga, former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka and other VIPs were quickly whisked out of the venue.

Attempts by the outgoing Secretary General Anyang Nyong’o to restore order were ignored.

“Let’s have some order here… I appeal that you may be calm. I plead with please; Seat down so that we can talk,” he could be heard saying. “Stop destroyingproperty and behaving like that,” Nyong’o urged.

Jan'gos at work, who will RAO blame this time...IEBC?

Ha... Ha... Guess who is laughing now. I am sure Baba Moi, Emirio, UK, and DP are all but laughter at RAO and his house of chaos and corruption. In 1,2,3 he is going to issue a statement and blame TNA!

Who are the well dressed men in black? Is Africa ready for multi party politics?
