The rise and fall of Colonel Muamar Gadaffi

Shame on NATO & it's allies 🙁
Kwa ujumla ile vita inawaelemea.. tatizo ni kwamba walikurupuka tu wakidhani itakuwa rahisi kama ile ya Iraq, Mbaya zaidi ni kwamba they are hitting the innocent Libyans,

Mfano: Juzi wavyopiga pale hosiptalini wakaua na kujeruhi wagonjwa na walokwenda kusalimia wagonjwa.
Nevertheless wakabisha kuwa hawajapiga bomu hospitalini and at the same time Libyan TV ikaonesha mabaki ya hiyo hospitali pamoja na athari zilotokea (ikawa ni ushahidi tosha) then NATO wakakosa kisingizio kingine ndo maana wakaamua kuitwanga LIBYAN TV ili isiwe inaiumbua kwa kuonesha kinachoendelea.

Ilofanya warise hao waasi?

Malikia uingereza ni source of unit ya scotland, wales, england na ireland anatumia billions kutanua na familly yake but hasemwi, kwasababu kuondoka kwa malikia ndo mwanzo wa kua na nchi 4 huru uk, so wao nao wanajua kuanguka kwa gadaffi ndo mgawanyiko wa libya na kuwaweza kuwanyonya vizuri

hiki ndo kinachoendelea libya nato anachochea ugomvi ili wauane wakiishiwa nguvu awatawale wote na kufaidi mafuta vizuri

You are wright 🙂

Tripoli market bustles in spite of war

On the Friday before the start of Ramadan, we're driven to the Abu Saleem part of town and given an hour to walk around the marketplace. We do so free from escorts and translators.

Umm Ahmed is shopping for clothes at a stall on the edge of the market.

"Happy ... very happy ... because our Guide is very good," she says in English. The "Guide" is one of the titles Libyans use for Col Gaddafi.

Further along, the Shaban sisters are doing their pre-Ramadan shopping. Huda, 19, has bought a shirt and jeans and is looking to buy a pair of shoes to match her new outfit. Her younger sister Hada, 16, has bought a headscarf.

The sisters have plenty of choice in the market. The stalls are full of goods - a sign that shopkeepers are still able to get hold of supplies, even if it costs them a bit more.

"We love Muammar Gaddafi," adds Hada unprompted. She is still in secondary school.

"We want our leader," says Huda enthusiastically, "We die for him, I love him so much."

This feeling is so strong that Huda, the 19-year-old medical student, even signed up for a two-week military training course in Sirte, the hometown of Col Gaddafi. Her course included weapons training.

"It's fun - it's like the movies," she says.

"Do you ever think you will really have to shoot a gun?" I ask her.

"For my leader, yes, I can do anything."

BBC News - Tripoli market bustles in spite of war

Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi's camp has vowed to push on with its war against rebels whether or not NATO stops its bombing campaign, leaving little room for diplomacy to end the five-month conflict.

Gaddafi may also sense an opportunity to exploit divisions caused by the slaying last week of the top rebel military commander in as yet unexplained circumstances.

Venezuela's President Hugo Chavez gave the Libyan leader, who is wanted by the International Criminal Court on charges of crimes against humanity in attacks on civilians, some rare international support.

"Long live Muammar Gaddafi," he said in a televised address.

The rebels and their Western backers suffered a severe blow last week when General Abdel Fattah Younes, a former Gaddafi security minister who defected to the Benghazi side, was assassinated.

The murky circumstances of Younes's killing, which took place after he was summoned back from the front by his superiors, have prompted speculation of conspiracies and concern over the rebels' ability to control areas they have seized.

"Unfortunately, the Transitional National Council is acting very negatively with this case until now," said Muatsem Abdel Fattah Younes, the slain rebel's son, adding that the family may be forced to turn for international help to establish the truth.

Norway will scale down its fighter jet contribution in Libya from six to four planes and withdraw completely from the NATO-led operation by Aug. 1, the government said Friday.

Defense Minister Grete Faremo said she expects understanding from NATO allies because Norway has a small air force and cannot "maintain a large fighter jet contribution during a long time."

Libya rebels hunt 'pro-Gaddafi infiltrators'

Opposition leaders say they arrested dozens of armed men loyal to Muammar Gaddafi in their eastern bastion, but have suffered a blow in Libya's west, losing a village at the foot of a key mountain range. At least 63 people suspected of having links to Gaddafi, and of murdering the rebels' military chief, were rounded up by the rebels, following an hours-long battle in the opposition stronghold of Benghazi. Security forces patrolled the streets overnight and on Monday in a bid to track down more members of the pro-Gaddafi group, a rebel spokesman said.

Opposition forces captured the base of the Gaddafi loyalists, called the al-Nidaa Brigade, an armed group which had been operating under the opposition's banner, spokesman Mahmoud Shamam said. Medics said at least four opposition members and 11 pro-government troops were killed in the clashes.

Al Jazeera's Tony Birtley, reporting from Benghazi, said the battle was launched to subdue elements of Gaddafi's forces that had been operating as a "fifth column" within the opposition ranks. He said that documents had been found at the base that linked the brigade to Gaddafi. "We caught about 38 and later today more than 25," Mustafa el-Sagisli, the rebels' deputy interior minister, told the AFP news agency late on Sunday, referring members of the al-Nidaa Brigade who were rounded up for allegedly organising a prison break in Benghazi earlier in the week. Some of them ran away and we are trying to catch them all over the city," el-Sagisli said. "We are arresting them."

Ismail al-Salabi, who heads military operations for February 17 Martyrs Brigade, a faction within the rebels, called the operation "100 per cent successful" and added the rebels seized explosives and several pickup trucks equipped with machine guns. The fighting followed Thursday's killing of Younes, the chief rebel commander, under mysterious circumstances.

El-Sagisli said the al-Nidaa Brigade had been involved in "plans to [plant] car bombs" and that they had "participated in many acts of terrorism inside Benghazi". He also said the "very same group" of fighters was suspected of involvement in the assassination of Younes, who was a right-hand man to Gaddafi before his defection to the opposition. Birtley reported that while the fighting in Benghazi was indicative of unease, it did not mean that strong divisions yet existed in the rebels' ranks. "I'm not sure there are huge divisions, but there are some cracks. The [opposition National Transitional Council] is taking great steps to suggest their unity is intact and they are speaking with one voice," he said.

Forces loyal to Gaddafi, meanwhile, took control on Monday of the village of al-Jawsh at the foot of the strategic western Nafusa mountains, AFP journalists at the scene said. The rebels had on Sunday taken the village, but said they were forced to retreat to the east, half way along the road to the town of Shakshuka, after several hours of fighting. The rebels said al-Jawsh had been emptied of residents and pro-Gaddafi forces were now in the village. The Nafusa region has seen heavy fighting between rebels and forces loyal to Gaddafi since the rebels launched a major offensive this month in a drive on the capital Tripoli. Fighting was also reported near the eastern oil town of Brega, where rebels say they are advancing on pro-Gaddafi troops stationed there. Several explosions were also reported to have taken place an eastern district of the capital, Tripoli.

Migrants 'dead in transit'

On the diplomatic front of the conflict, France announced on Monday that it had released $259 million in frozen funds to the NTC. "These are funds that belong to the Libyan people" and will be used to buy "food and medicine", said Mansour Seyf al-Nasr, the Libyan opposition's new ambassador to Paris, after meeting with Alain Juppe the French foreign minister. In Italy, 25 men who were apparently fleeing the violence in Libya were found dead in a small boat that arrived at the island of Lampedusa on Monday, port authorities said. The men appeared to have been asphyxiated by motor fumes while on board.

The boat arrived after a three-day voyage from Libya, and was carrying at least 271 people from sub-Saharan Africa, including 36 women and 21 children. "Twenty-five bodies were found on board a boat from Libya; the others appear to be fine, they are now undergoing checks," said Antonio Morana, the commanding officer at Lampedusa port. Local prosecutors have opened an investigation to ascertain whether any criminal responsibility can be established under laws against aiding clandestine immigration.

At least seven Libyan revolutionaries have been killed and 65 others wounded during clashes with government troops, medical sources say.

The fighting broke out on Tuesday in the town of Zlitan, which is located 160 km (100 miles) east of the capital, Tripoli, Reuters reports.

Earlier on Tuesday, revolutionary forces had captured the town from forces loyal to embattled Libyan ruler Muammar Gaddafi.

At last the AU resolution will take over:
1-Mpaka sasa Ufaransa inaendelea kubonga na wanadiplomasia wa Gaddafi, at the same time waasi wameanza kulalamika kuwa Gaddafi anawakosanisha na France ili wakose misaada, Ufaransa nayo ikasema ikishakubaliana na Gaddafi itailawalazimisha rebels on cease fire.
2-Norway imeanza kupunguza ndege zake za kijeshi kutoka NATO, na inampango wakuondoa zote siku za mbeleni Click here for more on this Norway Withdraws Jets from Libya Ops: Military - Defense News.
