The rise and fall of Colonel Muamar Gadaffi

mara wamemkamata mtoto wake mara hajakamatwa embu cheki hii

TRIPOLI (Reuters) - A son of Muammar Gaddafi who rebels said they had captured made a surprise appearance with jubilant supporters in Tripoli overnight and issued a rallying cry to loyalists to fight off opponents who say they control most of the Libyan capital.
Saif al-Islam, who has been seen as his father's heir apparent, visited the Tripoli hotel where foreign journalists are staying to declare that the government was winning the battle against the rebels.
He took journalists to his father's Bab al-Aziziyah stronghold. Television footage showed Saif smiling, waving and shaking hands with supporters, as well as holding his arms aloft and making the V for victory sign.
"We broke the back of the rebels. It was a trap. We gave them a hard time, so we are winning," Saif said.
"Take up arms today, take up arms today," Saif told loyalists waiting to be given weapons. "Inshallah (God willing) we will attack the rats today," he said to cheers.
Saif's arrest had been reported both by rebels and the International Criminal Court in The Hague and his appearance before the foreign media raised questions as to the rebels' credibility.
He said Tripoli was under government control and that he did not care about the arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court seeking him and his father for crimes against humanity.
Gaddafi himself has not been seen in public for several weeks before the rebels arrived in the capital at the weekend. But when asked if his father was safe and well in Tripoli, Saif told journalists: "Of course."
World leaders urged Gaddafi, 69, to surrender to prevent more bloodshed and appealed for an orderly transition of power, as the six-month-old battle for control of the oil-producing North African nation appeared to enter its final stages.
FIREFIGHTS
Rebels swept into Tripoli two days ago in tandem with an uprising within the city. Reuters reporters saw firefights and clashes with heavy weapons, including anti-aircraft guns, as rebels tried to flush out snipers and pockets of resistance.
Hundreds seem to have been killed or wounded since Saturday. But Gaddafi tanks and sharpshooters appeared to hold only small areas, mainly around the heavily fortified Bab al-Aziziyah compound in central Tripoli.
Civilians, who had mobbed the streets on Sunday to cheer the end of dictatorship, stayed indoors as machinegun fire and explosions punctuated some of the heaviest fighting of the Arab Spring uprisings that have been reshaping the Middle East.
U.S. President Barack Obama, saying the conflict was not over yet, cautioned rebels against exacting revenge for Gaddafi's brutal rule. "True justice will not come from reprisals and violence," he said.
The president also made plain that the United States would oppose any group within the loose coalition of rebels from imposing its power over other parts of Libyan society.
"Above all we will call for an inclusive transition that leads to a democratic Libya," Obama said.
In an audio broadcast on Sunday before state TV went off the air, Gaddafi said he would stay in Tripoli "until the end." There has been speculation, however, he might seek refuge in his home region around Sirte, or abroad.
In a sign Gaddafi allies were still determined to fight, NATO said government forces fired three Scud-type missiles from the area of Sirte toward the rebel-held city of Misrata.
Bab al-Aziziyah, a huge complex where some believe Gaddafi might be hiding, was the focal point of fighting in Tripoli.
"I don't imagine the Bab al-Aziziyah compound will fall easily and I imagine there will be a fierce fight," Abdel Hafiz Ghoga, spokesman for the rebel National Transitional Council, said in an interview aired by Al-Jazeera.
The Arab network, quoting its correspondent, said violent clashes were also reported near the oil town of Brega.
Rebels had initially said they held three of Gaddafi's sons, including Saif al-Islam. Al-Jazeera TV said that one of them, Mohammed, had escaped, adding that the body of another son, military commander Khamis, might have been found along with that of powerful intelligence chief Abdullah al-Senussi.
FEARS OF REPRISAL, REVENGE
Western powers are concerned that tribal, ethnic and political divisions among the diverse armed groups opposed to Gaddafi could lead to the kind of blood-letting seen in Iraq after the overthrow of Saddam Hussein.
In a move that could ease tensions, a rebel official in the eastern city of Benghazi said, however, that efforts were under way to make contact with authorities hitherto loyal to Gaddafi.
Foreign governments which had hesitated to take sides, among them Gaddafi's Arab neighbors, Russia and China also made clear his four decades of absolute power were over.
A U.S. State Department spokeswoman said Libyans who said they represented Gaddafi were making "more desperate" efforts to negotiate with the United States in the last 24 to 48 hours.
Washington did not take any of them seriously because they did not indicate Gaddafi's willingness to step down, she added.
French President Nicolas Sarkozy, who took an early gamble on the rebels and may now reap diplomatic benefits, called on the Gaddafi loyalists "to turn their back on the criminal and cynical blindness of their leader by immediately ceasing fire."
Late on Monday, Sarkozy spoke to Britain's David Cameron by telephone about the Libya situation, according to a press release from the French presidential palace.
"They both agreed to pursue efforts in supporting the legitimate Libyan authorities as long as Colonel Gaddafi refuses to surrender arms," the statement read. Paris has offered to host a summit on Libya soon.
Cameron also spoke to Obama on Monday night.

Muammar Gaddafi's son Seif al-Islam, wanted by the International Criminal Court for crimes against humanity, has not been arrested by rebels despite earlier reports and is still in Tripoli, an AFP journalist said Tuesday.

Several journalists, including an AFP correspondent, saw Seif al-Islam in Muammar Gaddafi's residential complex in the capital. ICC prosecutor Luis Moreno-Ocampo had earlier said the 39-year-old was arrested and in detention.

"I am here to refute the lies," Gaddafi's son said, referring to reports of his arrest.
Three journalists, including from AFP, were taken by car to Gaddafi's Bab al-Azizya compound by representatives of the regime.
Seif al-Islam arrived in a vehicle in front of the building complex, which was bombed by the Americans in 1986.
He was greeted by several dozen supporters waving his portrait and that of his father, as well as Libyan flags.
Moreno-Ocampo had said Seif al-Islam was arrested and in detention, calling for his swift transfer.
"We hope he can soon be in The Hague" to face judgement, Moreno-Ocampo said as he indicated he was planning to contact the "Libyan transitional government" later in the day.

An ICC spokesman said Monday that the court is seeking Seif al-Islam's transfer to The Hague to face charges of crimes against humanity.
"The court as a whole is involved," Fadi El-Abdallah told AFP, answering 'yes' when asked if that meant discussions were underway with the Libyan rebel National Transitional Council (NTC) over Seif al-Islam's transfer.

Seif al-Islam is accused together with his father with orchestrating a plan to put down the Libyan revolt by "any means necessary" since it was sparked in mid-February.
This included the murder of hundreds of pro-freedom Libyan protestors and injuring hundreds of others when security forces shot a crowds using live ammunition, as well as the arrest and torture of numerous others.

Before the revolt erupted, Seif al-Islam was increasingly seen as a successor to his father, despite publicly ruling out any dynastic ambitions in the North African country.

Described as the Libyan strongman's de facto prime minister and most influential person within his inner circle, Seif al-Islam is wanted because he "espoused and executed Muammar Gaddafi's plan which led to the commission of the crimes", a court document stated.

Gadafi nimemkubali

Kumbe aliona akipigana nje NATO wanamuona vizuri na wanamshambulia, sasa kawaacha rebels wakaingia Tripoli, aisiiii kawamaliza karibu wote waliobaki wanatimuka vibaya sana kutoka Tripoli. Kweli huyu ni mbabe wa kivita.

Hata mie nilikuwa nashangaa Gadafi ashindwe hata kurusha skadi moja mbili, ama kurusha ndege .

Wacha yaishie huko huko.Yakija EAST AFRICA itakuwa kitu kingine kabisa!.

I wish hata sisi tz serikali yetu ingeanza kujiposition ili makampuni yetu kama azam bakhresa waende kufanya reconstruction ya libya. But before that we have to recognize the NTC

Nigeria wawatambua "waasi"
Bongo nadhani si muda mrefu tutafuata mkumbo!

Nigeria says it recognises the Libyan rebel council as the country's legitimate representative and calls on Muammar Gaddafi to quit.

"In the last 48 hours, the situation in the country has moved inexorably closer to its denouement," a Foreign Office statement said. "The federal government is understandably anxious to prevent further loss of lives in Libya and therefore urges Muammar Gaddafi to take the part of honour and relinquish power immediately and allow the people of Libya to decide the future of their country."

Saif Al Islam Gaddafi Is Free - Drives Up & Talks With FOX Producer - YouTube

This thing might be very premature to comment.
Ikageuka ya bombing, the kusapoti rebels, sasa Gddafi aondoke,na huku wakijiuliza mafuta atagawanywaje.

Wangeweza wakambana asimamie mabadilko.

The small 7 million population nation, now reduced to 4 million after 2 million migrant workers and refugees have left after terrorist and NATO sieges and another 1 million are cut off in the East with Benghazi under siege: 4 million Libyans are defeating NATO
While NATO's "2 or 3 day" war on Libya now rages on since over 5 months, pitting the world's most powerful military which has flown over 20,000 missions into a "No Fly Zone", killing tens of thousands and maiming many more, all in the name of "protecting civilians from Qaddafi's air force", an air force which has not flown a single flight throughout and was destroyed on the ground on day 1 of NATO's attacks, against a million Libyans armed only with Kalashnikov's.

Or are they? Yes, they are armed with the best assault rifle on earth, the Russian AK-47, manufactured in Libya since many years so as not to depend upon Russia which meantime of course, has come under the yoke of the "international banker community." But, they are actually armed with something much bigger than any bomb of NATO including its nuclear ones. And with each bomb NATO drops and each missile if fires, Libya's arsenal is strengthened: Truth.

Truth is the most powerful weapon of all. And since the outset of the attack on Libya in an attempt to feed the bankrupt bankers -- every single one of the NATO countries except Germany which is attacking Libya is bankrupt -- who have "seized assets" (a nice word for stolen) to the tune of $150 billion (one hundred and fifty thousand millions, try to imagine that number) and who knows where Libya's 144 tons of gold are, hopefully not in the Bank of England vaults.

From the start of this attempt to take out Africa's most popular hero but also the man who is responsible for setting much of Africa free -- including South Africa -- and who has continued to provide infrastructure investments in Africa's future in the shape of health, education and communications -- from the start of this war of aggression on Africa's Crown, Libya, and her King of Kings, Qaddafi, this has been a media war.

It started with Twitter social media fake accounts tweeting that "Qaddafi is bombing civilians, ten thousand dead" and was picked up immediately by a coordinated media assault, with Qatar -- the royal dictator of which is a sworn long time enemy of pro-democracy Qaddafi -- with Qatar's Jazeera TV, now beaming into all homes in the western world via Satellite as a sanctioned propaganda tool, taking up those tweets and reporting them as fact.

It did not stop there of course. The BBC, CNN in the service of MI6 and the CIA respectively, echoed Al Jazeera, thus giving it more credibility. We performed the same exercise here: someone tweeted from an account we control on Twitter, that the Queen of England's Air Force is Bombing London. Mathaba took that up and posted news saying that tweets show that London is being bombed, and many other blogs loved it and immediately took it up.

What then happened with the conspiracy against Qaddafi by the Qataris, British and Americans, all wishing to settle old scores and seize the opportunity to revive the empty coffers of the bankers in London and New York, was that those same conspirators along with France, passed no less than a "UN Security Council Resolution" against Libya, calling for a "No Fly Zone", which they alone of course, would violated day in and out forever more.

But it did not stop there. Unfortunately for the gangsters taking out Qaddafi did not take "2 to 3 days" as promised by NATO and London. In spite of tens of thousands of missile and bombs, Qaddafi refused to vacate his modest home, and, protected by the Creator who alone can take away life, has continued to survive although NATO murdered 3 of his grandchildren and his youngest son. Thus, something more needed to be done.

That something more, was, aside from dropping Libya off the nightly TV news after the first weeks when it became clear that NATO was failing in spite of all its fire power, was to concoct some more media plans. They decided to set up an entire live studio set in Qatar, a replica of central Tripoli, and to have the so-called rebels shown celebrating victory in Green Square. Unfortunately though, there are visible faults on the set. Jazeera broadcast those images "live" and once again have been shown to have created fake news. Not that most of their viewers know, but people are starting to wake up.

Moreover, a nice trap was set for the rats who had been out in the desert around Tripoli and hard to catch. Khamis Qaddafi's elite brigade pretended to be weak, and the rebels passed right into the center of Tripoli under NATO massive bombing to clear the way forward. They even tried to settle scores with independent journalists at the Rixos, and, the CIA and MI6 agents working for CNN and SKY news, were outed. Thinking victory had come, those agents tried to take out the independents who had been telling the truth about Libya all alone. At least 3 were targeted but all 3 survived. But it gets worse.

Now that it is clear the "rats fell into a trap", those in the ransacked Rixos, are holed up and have split into various groups, to avoid a confrontation, because, the CIA and MI6 agents working under guise of being journalists, have realized now that the plan to take Tripoli has failed badly. Not only that, but, here is why the victory is even sweeter:

those lying media networks, Jazeera, Arabiya, BBC, CNN, AFP, DPA, RAI, have now lost even more millions of viewers when they told big lies which were designed to create a result, but all of which failed: once again Khamis is not dead, Sayf Al Islam was not captured, and neither Mohammed. Pretending they were and that they broke free, is now the line of desperation, but is not believable either.

So, as Mathaba *alone* has promised not only in March when NATO started its attack, but also this past weekend when all the world media -- the entire world media who dutifully echo western media in their reports: Malaysia, Thailand, China, Australia, Latin America, all except Cuba alone as the only country which is not echoing western propaganda (even Iran, China, Russia are) and North Korea which has no media -- the entire world media stood against Mathaba's reports throughout, which have always proven accurate and which have brought us even more readers than before.

Now, the world lying media networks, all under the hopeless control of a dying system, have lost millions more viewers, and we have gained millions more yet again. And so it will continue until the end: once again, we assure you all, Qaddafi cannot be removed, is not leaving, and the vast majority of Libyans are behind him. We say that as a non-Libyan international independent truth news agency because we have good information and we are not compromised.
