It is interesting to hear the silence and vaccum of voices of those who were once at realm of leading Tanzania.
Not to say or demand they should take a side like what is being suggested now that they should campaign for CCM candidate, but one would hav hoped that the likes of Mzee Mwinyi, Mkapa, Warioba, Salim, Msuya, Salmin, Malecela, Sumaye and many others who are retired, would have been voice of reason for the sake of our nation and not siding with CCM.
Why such silence? Tanzania needs these old guards to step up and continue with unbiased leadership so that our grand children will benefit the fruits of our labor.
The silence of these lions is scary. No one really steps up and demand accountability or force those who are currently in power to create an environment that is healthy for Tanzania.
Sadly, most of them are silent whinners, and cave in to the Party politics of CCM and focus on the best interests if CCM than the interests of the peasant in Magu, the teacher in Kikwajuni or that poor child who is malnutritioned in Nachingwea.
Thir silence is scary and their absence in demanding more from the new blood currently at realm of leadrship is empty. They are silent about the massive spending and soaring debt, they are turning blind eye on undemocratc ways that the government conduct itself in name of democracy. They are completely mum on shaming the grand corruption and economic sabotage that is being done left and right by those in power.
I guess as we celebrate Mwalimu day, there is only one voice of reason ever to emerge in Tanzania, and that is Mwalimu Nyerere's voice which we cherish and miss.
