I couldn't agree more, it defeats logic why our government trying so hard to salvage the non-existent diplomatic ties with Tanzania. We better count our losses and move on, elevate them as hostile neighbors. Of course there will be a price to pay, since we do partner with them significantly in business, but they are so unpredictable, always harboring crazy bitterness towards everyone and everything.

I like the way our president has gone a notch higher formulating new relationships all over, right now countries like Mozambique, Djibouti, Sudan etc are all warming up to increasing trade relationship with Kenya.

Tanzania right now has own issues to sort, even they themselves are acting so confused, just read the news on their politics speaks volumes of a country making so many backward strides.

When you see an OpEd like this doing rounds, it's a subtle way of GoK passing message of the
impending diplomatic and economic shifts in the pipeline! Kenya has been tolerant for far too long that we look desperate for Tanzania's affection of which they're dispensing like Panadol! NKT!

Even they themselves are stuck, not knowing or aware of what exactly has been messing them up, look at the thread below by one of them, I really feel pity for them

Wana JF!! nimekuwa kila siku najiuliza tatizo kubwa la Watanzania ni nini lakini bado sipati jibu. Je, inawezekana kwa vile tulipata uhuru wetu kwenye silver plate ndiyo maana watu hawajali au hawana uchungu na nchi yao. Ukilinganisha na nchi nyingi zilizopigana vita kupata uhuru wao, mambo mengi na usanii unaotokea Bongo hauwezi kutokea huko. Just look at Kenya (maumau) halafu uendelee na nchi nyingine luluki. Hata wenzetu wa ZNZ wameamka sana na wako serious na nchi yao ila sisi Bara ndiyo tunawangusha.

Hivi sasa mambo yavyoendelea naona yanakwenda kinyumenyume tu! Baada ya miaka 45 ya Uhuru serikali ya CCM ndiyo kwanza bado inajenga msingi. Sasa hilo paa litaezekwa lini??? Au hizo ndito za TZ kuwa kama Thailand zitakuwa kweli lini?? Naomba kutoa hoja!!

ujamaa was a big mistake you speak for who? Nyerere is the father of our national we respect and thanks him a lot for uniting more than 126 tribes and makes us live like one family, Tanzania is a big country but he managed to do all that ujamaa did help us, he did a lot of good than bad. We see how tribalism is eating you guys every year in your election how kikuyus,Luos and the likes hate each other how a brother kill a brother in the name of tribalism,secondly in your election only two tribes chosen to be presidents since your independence and others be slaves in their own country why they don't deserve to be presidents? But you always turn a blind eye, before you point a finger on Nyerere look at your own problem and solve them as we solve ours.

Lol... and even after all the reflection and soul searching, their benchmark is Thailand! Not that Thigh-Land ain't a good enough example, but it's the classic example of anything goes...tourists will bring in dollars attitude!

I am not mincing my words...Ujamaa is the reason you are still poor and backward despite having a lot of natural resources...Nyerere wasted you guys...it brought you together as tribes but it also promoted laziness and mediocrity in addition to superstitious beliefs (uchawi and ushirikina) it is because of Nyerere's ujamaa ideology that you still believe in killing albinos for ritualistic purposes and believe that will bring you wealth and power🙁🙁🙁...most importantly, you are still regarded as a least developed country despite having diamond, gas, tanzanite among other other resources...I repeat Ujamaa system was a tremendous mistake

we need the whole East Africa to move forward together as one but there is one mole to the south of Kenya who keeps holding us back. i wish we could colonize them
