The white stuff inside an orange peel.

What's the name for that spongy part of the orange,and is it good to eat it?.I know this may be weird but I actually love the white skin on the inside of an orange. I scape the white skin on the inside and leave the outside skin alone. Is there any health benefits from eating it and what are they?
