This is why Millie Odhiambo cannot be arrested despite insulting Uhuru


Totally agree to disagree on this as suggested.

However, as someone suggested earlier, lets look to heal the source of the problem and not kill the messenger who in this case is the media. I look at it this way, as Uhuru's supporter, what if he loses the election and his rival Raila is president with a silent/muzzled media, will I still trust him not to misuse/take advantage of the media reporting?

Whatever were Millie Odhiambo's concerns regarding the state of affairs in the country, it wasnt really necessary to revile at the president like that, and especially on the floor of the parliament. That wasnt very civil of her, it was rather repugnant. That kind of behaviour shouldnt be tolerated in any society that considers itself civilized.
It is rather sad that a section of Kenyans have hailed her for that revolting action, describing her variously as bold, courageous,brave.....she surely doesn't deserve such superlatives! She was pathetic and idiotic!
Kenyan politics need not be characterized by such unruly behaviours.

Looking at the cesspool that is the Kenyan social media, is now awash with back and forth exchanges of ethnic diatribes, sparked by the senseless remarks by the low-witted politicians such as Miss. Milly Odhiambo. I do not think the possibility of the next general elections degenerating into yet another bloodbath like in 2007 can be ruled out.

All self-respecting Kenyans, irrespective of their political leaning, should surely condemn the actions of such hooligans calling themselves politicians, their irresponsible actions and utterances that risk tearing our already fragile society asunder.

If this is what we really mean by "freedom of speech", then, in my honest opinion, this is one luxury we Kenyans can ill-afford.
Let us enforce some decorum in our politics, please!
 
The media should edit out the insulting remarks, don u think?
 

Am sure deep inside this contention, you will somehow understand my school of thought. I am in no way agitating for muzzling of the media, hell no. We need the fourth estate like never before. They do a great job, they are our only conduit to the world out there.

Yeah, they don't always feature my favorite news, not everything they say is music to my ears, there are times I find myself wishing some stuffs were swept under the carpet. It's like watching your own inebriated father walking naked down the street, you'd wish everybody closed their eyes, blaming people for staring, while the source of the problem lies deeply at home.

However, I still insist, the fourth estate is a very powerful army, so powerful such that it can invoke third world war within seconds....bring down the world. But with so much power, comes the need for responsibility......

She didn't do that while the parliament was in session, she also did that on the parliament grounds which doesn't give her much of protection. The jury is still out, anything could happen. But it seems that Kenyatta and Jubilee doesn't want to give Millie political mileage with arrest or throwing her to jail.

But since Kenya is entering election year, Kenyatta na yeye ana cheza political game, "let the dead bury their own dead". Sasa hivi Kenyatta knows every one insult, is one or two or three less votes. Sikatai Mama Millie Odhiambo had a right to react the way she did, she was angry kutokana na mchezo mchafu unafanywa na jubilee. Lakini at what expense, loosing silent voters? She might gained few votes from her rant, but at the same time she might have made few people turn off their TV set. Look how Kenyatta his trying to use this to his own advantage, making ODM look like wamerukwa na akili at the same time his speaking to the silent voters.
