Wakulima tumepauka kichizi huku mashambani mapembejeo yapo juu kodi za mazaoyetu ndo usiseme mbaya zaidi kodi hiyo hiyo badala iturudie sisi huku mashambani Tunasikia zinanunuliwa ndege kwa ajili ya wazungu na watu wa mjini.

Asante kwa hoja nzuri.. shida sasa.. serikali inayotakiwa kubeba jukumu la kuleta mageuzi ndo haina dira wala mwelekeo.. wako bize na miswada uchwara kwa lengo moja, kuendelea kubaki madarakani kwa gharama yoyote ile. Mageuzi yanayohitajika ili kukipa kilimo hadhi yake ni yale yatakayotokana na utafiti, tena wa kina.. serikali iko bize na sera uchwara zinazovuruga moja kwa moja mwenendo wa masoko na mwishowe mkulima anazidi kuwa maskini hohe hahe.. Hakika sijaona watu wa ajabu kama wanasiasa wa Tanzania. Hata wale wasomi uchumia tumbo unawapa tabu sana, hawana mbinu wala namna ya kushauri ili nchi iondokane na jembe la mkono na kutegemea mvua.

Hebu fikiria ikiwa asilimia 50 tu ya watanzania millioni 55 ni watu wenye uwezo wa kufanyakazi maana yake unaongelea watu millioni 25. Katika hao, 70% ni wakulima, maana yake wakulima ni millioni 17.5. Cha kustaajabisha zaidi, wakulima millioni 17.5 wanashindwa kuzalisha chakula kwa ajili ya watu millioni 55, au kwa wastani mkulima mmoja anashindwa kuzalishachakula cha kuwatosha watu wanne.. Hapa kuna tatizo kubwa, ndio maana hoja ya mageuzi (reforms) ni muafaka kabisa. Wanasiasa hawawezi kufanya hesabu ndogotu kama hizo na kuona tatizo ili lifanyiwe utafiti wa kina

Shukran mkuu, mfumo mzima unahitaji mabadiliko kama ulivyosema. Tunahitaji tafiti, jinsi ya kuhifadhi mazao pia ni changamoto.

Nilikuwa ninaangalia kipindi kimoja kwenye TV jinsi wakulima wa Uingereza wanavyohifadhi vutungu ghalani mwaka mzima. Baada ya mavuno vile vya mwakajana huuzwa kwanza.

Ghala linatolewa hewa kabisa. Sikuwawninafahamu kuwa hewa ni adui mkubwa wa vitunguu.

Sasa wakulima wetu wanaona vitunguu perishable crop kumbe vibaweza kukaa mwaka mzima ghalani.

Smallholder farming is not shielded against multitude of risks, including droughts, floods, market failure, and so on. Now this farmer has to look elsewhere to circumvent risky production environment, and has a lot of options at his disposal to do that. Some include: produce less, operate multiple farm enterprises, use less external inputs (fertilizers, pesticides, improved seeds), shy away from adopting new technologies, and so on.

De-risking farm environment should be an entry point to stimulate agricultural growth. I do not know how far our petty dictateurs will walk towards that direction

Vijana jifunzeni kufikiri kidogo, najua elimu yetu haichochei kufikiri, na inakandamiza fikra huru, lakini Nyerere hakufuta udini wala ukabila nchi hii. Pwani ya Afrika mashariki ilishakuwa civilised miaka mingi sana kabla nyerere hajazaliwa, na hapakuwa na ubaguzi wa kidini wala kikabila. Sitaki kuandika sana kwasababu hakuna muda.
Jiulize, kabla nyerere kabla hajaja darisalama, huku darisalama kulikuwa na udini au ukabila? Unawezaje kufuta kitu ambacho hakipo?
Nyerere kazaliwa musoma, kasoma Tabora kwa wanyamwezi. Jee amewahi kubaguliwa na wanyamwezi kwasababu yeye siyo mnyamwezi mwenzao?
Alipokuja pwani kapokelewa na wazalamu. Jee waliwahi kumbagua kwasababu yeye siyo mzalamu?
