The major issue facing Abdulwahid and the political committee was the status of Tanganyika as a mandate territory.

Abdulwahid engaged Earle Seaton, a lawyer from Bermuda based in Moshi, and attached him to the committee to advise them on constitutional law and decolonisation of mandate territories under foreign rule.

The United Nations Trusteeship Council had already sent its first visiting mission to Tanganyika in 1948; but not much was gained from this mission.

TAA headquarters in Dar es Salaam under Dr Kyaruzi and Abdulwahid with the backing of the political committee was now rising from its deep slumber.

What was now required were serious issues to stimulate the minds of the young intellectuals.

The TAA leadership did not have to look far.

These issues came in the form of the Constitutional Development Committee set up by Governor Edward Twining and the Meru land evictions.

Kutokana na mazungumzo haya na Prof. Haroub ndipo Nyerere akakubali
na yeye kueleza maisha yake ya siasa.

Prof. Haroub ndiye akawa mratibu wa kamati ya wasomi watakaofanya kazi
hiyo.

Ilikuwa ni kumhoji Nyerere na hawa wasomi wataandika.
Bahati mbaya Nyerere akafa kabla ya kazi kuanza.

Hata hivyo Prof Haroub aliamua kuandelea na kazi ile.

Kuna kitabu kinaitwa ''Farewell to the President'' kimeandikwa kwa heshima
yake baada ya Prof Haroub kufariki.

Habari za kuandika maisha ya Nyerere zimo mle katika utangulizi.

Hata hivyo mkewe Bi Saida Yahya Othman anaendelea na kazi hii akisaidiana
na Prof. Shivji.

Lakini chanzo ya haya yote ni kitabu cha Sheikh Ali Muhsin Barwan wa iliyokuwa
Zanzibar Nationalist Party (ZNP) ''Conflict and Harmony in Zanzibar'' maarufu kwa
jina la Hizbu na kitabu changu.

Vitabu hivi vyote viwili vimekuja na mengi mapya ambayo hayakuwa yakijulikana.

"Tanzania's founder president and father of the nation , the late Mwalimu Julius Kambarage Nyerere, died before his autobiography could begin.
Prof. Ahmed Mohiddin, a former academician, told the East African that three people himself, Prof Haroub Othman, now live in Liberia, and former ambassador Ferdinand Ruhinda one of mwalimu's confidants had earlier approached the late Mwalimu to seek his consent.

He had initially agreed, on that and Prof Othman was to meet him in August 12, 1999 so that we could work on strategy on how we were going to do it. I think he knew his disease was fatal.

Prof Mohiddin who describes Mwalimu as the last revolutionary, said it is sad that he departed without it.

Ambassador Ruhinda said in Dar, "We were going to sit with him whenever he had time, and write his own words and then he would go through the manuscript and correct it because we wanted it to be his own work. It is just bad that he departed before the project could take off"

He added "Actually we were just going to assist him to write, but not for us to write for him; there are so many books that have been written about him that we wanted one from himself.

The three writers who had worked on a framework for the Nyerere Autograph now have daunting task ahead. "We will have to reorganize ourselves and the work. But it will never be the same again."

Na kwa taarifa yako Tanganyika in 1950 ilikuwa Trust Territory under UN charter na siyo Mandate Territory, soma Hansard iliyotundikwa open mindedly usiisome kwa jicho na angle yako ya siku zote.

Nyerere akaeleza vipi uchaguzi wao ulivyokwenda na yeye juu
ya ugeni wake Dar es Salaam alimshinda mwenyeji wake na
kuchukua uongozi.

Wala nyumba ya TAA haukujengwa kwa kujitolea kila Jumapili
kama Abdu Sykes alivyoeleza na kuwa yeye akiwa mtoto alikuwa
akifuatana na baba yake kwenye ujenzi wa nyumba ile.

Abdu Sykes ni mwongo nyumba kajenga Gavana na itakuwa vyema
kama semina paper aloandika binti yake Daisy Aisha Sykes mwaka
1968 "The Life of Kleist Sykes" akisimamiwa na John Illife ikaondolewa
Maktaba ya Chuo Kikuu kwa kuwa ni kazi ya kugushi.

Hotuba ya Waikela kwa Nyerere "Moto wa Waislam" haikusomwa
katika mkutano wa EAMWS wala Waikela hakuwekwa kizuizini nk. nk.

Yote niliyoandika ni mambo ya kutunga tu hakuna ukweli wowote.

Kitabu changu lau kama kimepata reviews mbili Cambridge Journal
of African History hao waandishi John Illife na Jonathan Glassman ni
wapuuzi kama mimi.

Hawana maana yoyote.

Hiyo kunialika kwenye vyuo vyao US kuhadhir ni magumashi tupu
wamepoteza fedha zao zilizokuwa zinawawasha.

Historia ya uhuru ilishaandikwa na wasomi mabingwa wa TANU 1981
wakiongozwa na Dk. Mayanja Kiwanuka.

Naamini ubishi sasa umekwisha.
Mbinu za kukwepa hoja tumezoea. Tutakuwepo hapa kuuonyesha ulimwegu jinsi gani unavyoghilibiwa.

Leo ulimwengu kuanzia Cambrige na huko USA wanaamini Nyerere alianza kutamka neno siasa baada ya kukutana na Sykes kwa mara ya kwanza alipofika Dar mwaka 1950. No thank you sir! big liar.

Angalia matatizo hayo basi!
Miaka yote hiyo baada ya uhuru ukitaka kitu ni lazima uvae shati la mikono mirefu.Huu ni mfumo aliotuachia Nyerere.Watu wa mfumo ndio waliojazana pale TBC.Wanaogopa wakizitoa kanda za mwalimu mambo ndio yanazidi kukorogeka.
Hapana. Kumetokea tatizo tangu Mwalimu alipofariki. RTD au sasa TBC ni chombo pekee ambacho kimeweka kanda za hotuba zote za Mwalimu na siyo kila Tom and Athumani anaweza kwenda pale na kuomba na kupewa kiholela. Nilichosikia ni kwamba wanasubiri mpaka pale Nyerere Foundation itakapokuwa na makao yake ziorodheshwe na ziwekwe pale ili kila mtu anayekwenda pale aweze kuzisikiliza kama walivyofanya wale waliojenga Memorial ya Martin Luther King jr hapa US.
It has nothing to do with mfumo. Nakumbuka 1985 Mwalimu alipokuwa anakaribia kustaafu nilikwenda pale na kuomba nakala kadhaa za hotuba zake kwa sababu nilikuwa natayarisha kipindi juu yake. Nilipewa. Lakini kwa sasa itakuwa vigumu kwa mtu kama Yericko kwenda pale na kupewa tu kwa sababu hizo nilizoziainisha hapo juu. Na kwa sababu aliyenisaidia kupata baadhi ya hizo hotuba 1985 bado yuko pale na nina hakika atanisaidia wakati huu kuipata hiyo hotuba ya kuaga kwake. Na ndio maana nimesema tuwe na subira na tuombe uzima. Hazitolewi kiholela kama njugu.
 
Unajua kwa muda mrefu mzee SAid alikuwa amepata mimbari huru mbele ya kundi la vijana wasiojua kuhoji wala udadisi wa fikra. Aliwakuta vijana (labda na wazee) ambao kuona Uislamu "Unatetewa" na maadui wa "Uislamu" wakibainiswa wazi basi walijikuta hawana jinsi isipokuwa kumuunga mkono. Histohisia ya Mohammed Said isingekamilika na wala isingekuwa na nguvu kama asingeweza kutumia 'common denominator' ya dini.

Ni kwa sababu hiyo utaona kuwa histohisia hiyo kaiandika akitumia dini kama kigezo cha 'nani alisahauliwa' na nani alipewa sifa. Nimeanza kupitia nyaraka mbalimbali za TANU na tayari nimeshakuta majina ya Abdul Sykes akitajwa na wazee wengine ambao Mzee Said alidai wamesahauliwa.

Kitu ambacho nimegundua ni kuwa wazee awa waliwekwa kwenye nafasi yao sahihi ya kihistoria - yaani washirika wa karibu wa Baba wa Taifa Mwalimu Nyerere katika harakati za Uhuru. Wengine bila ya shaka walimtangulia katika siasa (kutokana na umri wao au kutoka na nafasi walizokuwepo) lakini wote wanabadilishwa maisha yao na siasa zao wanapokutana na Nyerere.

Ni Nyerere ambaye anafunua wazo kuwa Tanganyika ni zaidi ya Gerezani, Tanganyika ni zaidi ya Dar-es-Salaam na Tanganyika ni zaidi ya kundi la wazee wa Dar (Wakristu na Waislamu). Mzee Said kwa makusudi kabisa anajaribu kupuuzia jaribio la kuwagawa wapigania uhuru kwa misingi ya dini. Kundi la Wazee wa Kiislamu ambao walitaka upendeleo wa pekee na ambao waliamini wanastahhili zaidi walijaribu kuhujumu harakati za Uhuru.

Uongozi thhabiti wa Nyerere ulionesha tu kuwa hali mbaya ya maisha haikuwa kwa watu wa Gerezani peke yao na wala hhaikuwa ni kwa Waislamu tu. Kulikuwa na jamii nyingi katika Tanganyika ambazo utawala wa Mkoloni ulizisahau. Nyerere katika dhamira safi asingeweza kabisa kupendelea kundi la 'marafiki' zake kama Mohammed Said anavyotaka na akapuuzia mamilioni ya WAtanganyika waliotawanyika katika ardhih yetu maridhawa.

Dhambi kubwa kabisa ya Nyerere ukimsoma vizuri Mohammed Said ni kuwa hakuwapendelea Waislamu au kuwapa nafasi ya pekee dhidi ya Watanganyika wengine. Nyerere aliwachukulia Waislamu kama ndugu zake, rafiki zake na aliwaamini kwa maisha yake. Katika kufanya ivyo aliongozwa kabisa na dhana ya "binadamu wote ni sawa". Bahati mbaya kina Mohammed Said wanaeneza (na tunaona matokeo yake) nadharia kuwa 'binadamu wote ni sawa' lakini "Waislamu tu ndio ndugu zangu". Hivyo, Mohammed Said hawezi kujali dhulma dhidi ya Wakristu au jamii ya Kikristu au Wasio waamini lakini atapiga kelele akisikia ni Waislamu wanadhulumiwa.

Hii ndio tofauti kubwa kati ya Nyerere na Mohammed Said na watu wanaomuunga mkono. Nyerere aliamini kuwa undugu wa binadamu ni mkubwa zaidi kuliko dini, rangi, jamii, au mahali. Na kwa muda Watanzania tuliamini hivyo ivyo pia. Hadi watu kama Mohammed Said walipoibuka na kutuambia kuwa wao ndugu zao wa karibu na walio tayari kuwatetea ni Waislamu wenzao. Na somo ihli limepata waumini. Cha kusikitisha ni kuwa hata hao Waislamu siyo Wote ambao wanaamini ni ndugu zao. Wao Waislamu ni wale wenye kukubaliana nao kisiasa na kimtazamo siyo wanaokubaliana nao kiimani juu ya Mungu Mmoja na Mtume Mohammed.

Wale Waislamu wasiyokubali histohisia hii na ambao wanaamini katika undugu wetu na wako tayari kumpinga ndio wamegeuzwa maadui. Wanaturudisha kule ambapo baba zao walifanya mwaka 1958 na mapema mwanzoni mwa miaka ya sitini - Waislamu ni lazima wampinge Nyerere, wapingane na ndugu zao Wakristu na wajitenge na wengine.

Unajua kwa muda mrefu mzee SAid alikuwa amepata mimbari huru mbele ya kundi la vijana wasiojua kuhoji wala udadisi wa fikra. Aliwakuta vijana (labda na wazee) ambao kuona Uislamu "Unatetewa" na maadui wa "Uislamu" wakibainiswa wazi basi walijikuta hawana jinsi isipokuwa kumuunga mkono. Histohisia ya Mohammed Said isingekamilika na wala isingekuwa na nguvu kama asingeweza kutumia 'common denominator' ya dini.

Ni kwa sababu hiyo utaona kuwa histohisia hiyo kaiandika akitumia dini kama kigezo cha 'nani alisahauliwa' na nani alipewa sifa. Nimeanza kupitia nyaraka mbalimbali za TANU na tayari nimeshakuta majina ya Abdul Sykes akitajwa na wazee wengine ambao Mzee Said alidai wamesahauliwa.

Kitu ambacho nimegundua ni kuwa wazee awa waliwekwa kwenye nafasi yao sahihi ya kihistoria - yaani washirika wa karibu wa Baba wa Taifa Mwalimu Nyerere katika harakati za Uhuru. Wengine bila ya shaka walimtangulia katika siasa (kutokana na umri wao au kutoka na nafasi walizokuwepo) lakini wote wanabadilishwa maisha yao na siasa zao wanapokutana na Nyerere.

Ni Nyerere ambaye anafunua wazo kuwa Tanganyika ni zaidi ya Gerezani, Tanganyika ni zaidi ya Dar-es-Salaam na Tanganyika ni zaidi ya kundi la wazee wa Dar (Wakristu na Waislamu). Mzee Said kwa makusudi kabisa anajaribu kupuuzia jaribio la kuwagawa wapigania uhuru kwa misingi ya dini. Kundi la Wazee wa Kiislamu ambao walitaka upendeleo wa pekee na ambao waliamini wanastahhili zaidi walijaribu kuhujumu harakati za Uhuru.

Uongozi thhabiti wa Nyerere ulionesha tu kuwa hali mbaya ya maisha haikuwa kwa watu wa Gerezani peke yao na wala hhaikuwa ni kwa Waislamu tu. Kulikuwa na jamii nyingi katika Tanganyika ambazo utawala wa Mkoloni ulizisahau. Nyerere katika dhamira safi asingeweza kabisa kupendelea kundi la 'marafiki' zake kama Mohammed Said anavyotaka na akapuuzia mamilioni ya WAtanganyika waliotawanyika katika ardhih yetu maridhawa.

Dhambi kubwa kabisa ya Nyerere ukimsoma vizuri Mohammed Said ni kuwa hakuwapendelea Waislamu au kuwapa nafasi ya pekee dhidi ya Watanganyika wengine. Nyerere aliwachukulia Waislamu kama ndugu zake, rafiki zake na aliwaamini kwa maisha yake. Katika kufanya ivyo aliongozwa kabisa na dhana ya "binadamu wote ni sawa". Bahati mbaya kina Mohammed Said wanaeneza (na tunaona matokeo yake) nadharia kuwa 'binadamu wote ni sawa' lakini "Waislamu tu ndio ndugu zangu". Hivyo, Mohammed Said hawezi kujali dhulma dhidi ya Wakristu au jamii ya Kikristu au Wasio waamini lakini atapiga kelele akisikia ni Waislamu wanadhulumiwa.

Hii ndio tofauti kubwa kati ya Nyerere na Mohammed Said na watu wanaomuunga mkono. Nyerere aliamini kuwa undugu wa binadamu ni mkubwa zaidi kuliko dini, rangi, jamii, au mahali. Na kwa muda Watanzania tuliamini hivyo ivyo pia. Hadi watu kama Mohammed Said walipoibuka na kutuambia kuwa wao ndugu zao wa karibu na walio tayari kuwatetea ni Waislamu wenzao. Na somo ihli limepata waumini. Cha kusikitisha ni kuwa hata hao Waislamu siyo Wote ambao wanaamini ni ndugu zao. Wao Waislamu ni wale wenye kukubaliana nao kisiasa na kimtazamo siyo wanaokubaliana nao kiimani juu ya Mungu Mmoja na Mtume Mohammed.
