The cargo train carried 104 containers, which is almost equivalent to the trucks operating daily on the Mombasa-Nairobi highway.

At the retreat attended by Presidents Uhuru Kenyatta (Kenya), John Pombe Magufuli (Tanzania) and Salva Kiir (South Sudan), President Museveni said the on-going infrastructural projects are a clear demonstration of a region making progress.

The Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) will lead the training of engineers to fast-track the construction of the standard gauge railway.

This was announced Monday by the National Enterprise Corporation managing director, Maj Gen James Mugira, at the ministry of defence headquarters in Mbuya, a Kampala suburb.
“We shall extend specialised training to all our officers in the UPDF Engineering Brigade including the wananchi (civilians) towards the realisation of this big project,” he said.
NEC is a State corporation that was established in 1989 as a commercial arm of the army.

Gen Mugira was speaking at the welcome ceremony of ten UPDF/NEC officers who attained specialised training in railway construction from China’s Shijiazhuang Tiedao University.

The group will train other officers in the engineering brigade and staff at the ministry of works and transport on the construction of the modern railway facility.

Call your fellow Kenyans to help you, this issue is heavier to you, sgr will be buried in naivasha no malaba no anywhere no more loans from China as long as Uganda won't agree to connect, sadly Uganda focused to South Sudan than anything because they know they will come to Tanzania so they don't have headache on your dull sgr without electricity.

Watakosa au wameshakosa, kwa ubishi wao wakenya wa kukataa kumuachia Museveni route ya SGR kwenda South Sudan matokeo yake ndio haya hapa. Hakutakuwa na treni direct kutoka Mombasa to Kampala unless Kenya warudie meter gauge. Meanwhile Tanzania SGR itanzia Dar mpaka Kigali, bunjubura.

Museven is very correct. we need to have a common methodology to execute these huge infrastructure projects. competition within a bloc will lead some to loose.

I agree with you I hope all member with see that way. I've ask this question some fellow Kenyans here that who are they competing with, their trading partners? I haven't seen America try to compete with Japan or EU especially on very trade their conducting.
 
Magufuli amesema MAMBO madogo madogo yashugulikiwe at ministerial level. yasifike kwao, wenyewe wako SAFI kabisa na mwenzake uhuru Kenyatta.

kwenye international trade kuna kitu kinaitwa comparative advantage. hii theory tungeitumia katika biashara ya East African bloc we could move fast, far and forever. competition among ourselves within a region will never bring all of us ahead. some of us will fall victims of the situation.
