sikia wewe mkenya, afrika ya kusini na nigeria ukiacha kugha ya malkia, hawana lugha nyingine zaidi ya lugha zao za makabila. Ila nyinyi wakenya mnaweka mbele kiingereza na lugha zenu za makabila huku mkifanya kiswahili kuwa lugha ya tatu, so, msijilinganishe na wanigeria au S.A.nyinyi ukabila unawateketeza.[/QU English is a global language and I bet you've learnt it, hamna shida mtu kuzungumza kabila lake, shida ni ubaguzi kwa misingi ya kikabila, now, is that hard to understand?
be polite to the lady, #just wondering, why does it bother you with what language Kenyans choose to communicate with?
#stick with your Swahili! When we meet in EAC, we do so in English, when we ratify anything we do so in English, when we trade, we do so in English, so whats the issue?
Kenyans adopted English majorly due to the circumstancial position it found itself in at its independence, a colony of the UK. international trading was with the west most of the time and also because English was the most spoken language in the world. Couple this with zero intra-african trade, zero education back ground do u blame us. We did the next best thing, copied every word to the verbatim and translated or made words for those that mattered for a day to day activity into Swahili. if in Tz things are/were different dare speak.
and yes we use Swahili, but for official purposes English is the easiest way out.
Till such a time we in EAC start running meetings in Swahili, teaching accounts, engineering, nursing, political science and any other profession/discipline in Swahili, i find this debate abt English vs Swahili to be bullish, bullshit and premature ----....we all the same.
and Kenyans are proud of Swahili, the odds at times are just not to its favour.
#signed in earnest by yours truly.
