Supreme Court's judgment a victory to all Kenyans: Uhuru

President-elect Uhuru Kenyatta on Saturday assured Kenyans that the Supreme Court's judgment upholding his election as the fourth President of Kenya is a victory to all Kenyans.

In a radio and television address to the nation after the Supreme Court delivered its decision, Mr Kenyatta said his Government will serve all Kenyans without discrimination.

"I want to assure all Kenyans, including those who did not vote for the Jubilee Coalition, and indeed even those who challenged the validity of my election, that my Government will work with, and serve all Kenyans without any discrimination whatsoever," President-elect Kenyatta said.

He made a personal appeal to Prime Minister Raila Odinga who was his main challenger in the just concluded petition and Presidential election to join and work with him for the interest of the nation and well-being of all Kenyans.

He also made the same appeal to other competitors to support and work with him noting that his Government will be all-inclusive and also reflect the face of the country.

Said he: "Personally, I sincerely thank my brother Hon. Raila Odinga for wishing us well and reach out to him and our other worthy competitors to join us so that we can work together in the interest of the well being of our people."

In this regard, the Mr Kenyatta called on Kenyans from across the entire political divide to rise above the partisanship of the recent electoral contest and join hands in building the country.

He at the same time, urged all Kenyans to renew their sense of nationhood and rededicate themselves to building a united country at peace with itself.

He also called on religious and civil society leaders to continue playing their role in the process of national healing that is needed after the heated electoral contest.

To all wananchi, the Mr Kenyatta urged them to accept that the elections are over and they must now continue living together as members of one family.

"Let us rise above the differences of the electoral period and continue coexisting peacefully as brothers and sisters. Above all, let us all continue to pray for peace in our country," the President-elect said.

He congratulated the Judges of the Supreme Court for delivering a verdict under extremely constrained timelines. He also commended all counsels for the able representation of all parties involved in the petition.
