Uhuru wants China to fund half of SGR for free

Uhuru wants China to fund half of SGR for free

Wewe wasema watu wanaropoka, wakati we mwenyewe unaspeculate.
Just own it and move on. Tanzanian officials unlike Uhuru and his genge are very serious when it comes to negotiation ( especially under Magufuli).
Uhuru is not serious, he likes being a president. He doesn't care about the responsibilities, he just like the title. He thinks he was born to be a president.
economic anaiss.PNG

Hii section hapa inaonyesha short term projection ya SGR kuanzia 2023 is only 1pproximatrely 13 Million tonnes! Kulingana na actual cargo inayobebwa kwa SGR, ukichukua historical data ya tangu January hadi August na ufanye projection, inaonyesha by 2019, SGR Kenya itakua inabeba 8 million tonnes p.a... So unataka kuniambia kutoka 2019, 2020,2021,2022 hadi 2023, bado itakua hatujafikisha a mere 13 Million tonnes?????

That’s one way to look at it. On the other side of the same coin, it could be that now that they have been asked to fund half of it, they are only now interested in strictier due diligence. Remember CRBC/CCCC are state companies 100% owned by the Chinese government, anything they due has blessings from the government.

But it’s non of those two scenarios, people just like running their mouth... the feasibility report for Naivasha-Kisumu is not out. What used to happen b4 was that the feasibility study was done for each segment independently.. I.e, they first did the study for phase 1 then later for phase 2A, then phase 2B ..... What they Chinese now want is one feasibility study document for the whole route. Which is good actually cause once it’s done funding for the whole route will be given at once instead of constructing in phases. In fact, I would recommend they just do one feasibility study up to Kampala and get it over with.

Remember, a feasibility study is not just for checking the economic viability of a project. (The Northern corridor is the busiest corridor in east and central Africa so off course it’s feasible what they might decide to change are things like if they should continue with ‘class 1’ rail to Uganda or downgrade to “class II” for the rest of the section like the cheaper Ethiopian rail funded by the same bank)

. The moment the Chinese saw that Kenya wanted China to fund half of phase 2B for free, the Chinese must have feared that Kenya wanted a reason to pull out, so they are now making sure one feasibility study for the whole route binds Kenya to Chinese dependency because afeasibility report done at the behest of the Chinese govt also binds the whole route to the Chinese constructor bcoz if Kenya decided to pull out and find funding from somewhere else then they would have to conduct another study with another financier who will take over.
Do you think China cares about Kenya pullung out?? All they would be wanting is there loan to be paid and once you fail they take the all Mombasa port.
Why do you like speculating things without bringing facts.??You are talking as if you work for Kenyan railway while you are in Kibera jobless.
So you want to tell us that Uhuru was asking for a grant to out smart the Chinese😂😂 Can the Kenyan government out smart the Chinese government by asking for a grant??😂😂 Who is fooling who?? What do you have that you can sell to the Chinese. Kenya is not even among the top ten countries in Africa which China has made a foreign direct investment.
Next fool those Kenyans in Kibera. 😂😂 We got a grant from China but not you Kenyans. 😂😂 Who is fooling who??

You mean this kind of negotiation where you give up things for free? Dar surrenders Bagamoyo port project to Chinese

Do you even know what you gave up in order to get the oil pipeline?

Why did you slap Acacia a $190B fine if you have been so good at negotiating?

Ukweli ni kwamba Tanzania imekua shamba la bibi kwa mabepari for a long time... ndo maana hadi wa Leo bado nchi maskini.... we mwenyewe unafaa ujiulize Swali simple tu. How can a $55B economy slap a $190B fine on a single company???? How stupid could you have been to loose all that money to just one company?????

By-laws za bandari zote ziwe private owned or Gvt or PPP like bagamoyo zote zipo chini ya sheria za Tz..
Unacholenga hapa ukisema Kwaba Tz imewapatia bandari ni porojo..
Unafaa kuwa una shangilia kwaba Tanzania Private sector is now waking up big time..maana socialism iliwaweka pahali pabaya kwa private sector
Magufuli is not a fool to accept that.

Amekuja kutetea thread yake kwa kuipinga hoja yake kuwa Uhuru wanted to out smart the Chinese😂😂 Hivi aliambatana na Uhuru huko China??.😂😂 Wanahisi hii ni China ya Tazara railway😂😂

yeah he is negotiating a $1.9 billion grant for that phase....but I have my doubts...usually when it comes to infrastructure, not many countries (even the US) offer to give grants..maybe in health (fight against HIV AIDS for instance), agricultural production and hunger relief

China cares about Kenya pulling out very much, enda ukaangalie map ya one belt one road initiative, Kenya is part of it. Kenya is now saying that if you (China) have put us in your route map to global dominance then you have to at least fund some of those projects for free...you know.....put your money where your mouth is!

And unlike you people, I do not speculate based on what I think but on the things i’ve read....

This is what the president said

The SGR sits very well on the Belt and Road Initiative. It commences the envisaged land bridge between the Indian and Atlantic Oceans, opening up the interior for trade and investment across seven countries, and opening China to Central Africa, and further on, beyond the Atlantic Ocean,” the President said.
If China provides a Sh190 billion grant, Beijing will not demand pay could still squeeze in a deal to ensure the Chinese firms benefit from the project.
But President Kenyatta told his host that the construction of the railroad should have, as a by-product, improved human skills and training. Why Kenya wants China to pay half the cost of SGR extension

——-
The Kenyan SGR from Msa-Nairobi has been held as a success story in China that the one belt one road project is working, it was even used as an example in the recently concluded meeting in China....If Kenya were to pull out right now, the whole of China’s one belt one road project worth more than $1 Trillion will be in jeorpardy as other countries that are part of the OBOR project will also be hesitant to keep going... there for Kenya is using this as leverage to negotiate for a better deal

8 million ni 2019 not 2018.

I think its after knowing chines people with their small eyes benefited more from the previous contracts when compared to Tanzania

One belt one road project ni swala la muda mrefu even Tanzania is part of that lakini hutusikii tukipiga kelele. China can not fund a project which they see will turn up to be a white elephant. In fact China was not part of the SGR deal in East Africa. It was brought out by the so called COW. China would have funded the all project for free if it would have been in there plan (interest)of one belt one road project .
Through that project they will construct there old routes only(roads and harbours) for free. Commonly know as silk roads. No railway construction in that Chinese plan.

Usinidanganye kama mtoto mdogo.😂😂😂 My self najua kuandika business plan. Kwenye hiyo document yako nionyeshe sehemu iliyoandikwa loss in 3-5 years.😂😂 Another KQ loading

Sasa wewe unaleta Takwimu ambazo Mchina amesema ni Kinyesi. Uhuru has failed to secure funding for the remaining phases..Its back to the drawing board, Total new feasibilty from mombasa to kisumu before any single cent comes out of the china man

Just upload the whole damn document, giving us pieces of mathematical probability doesn't cut it. It may not even be from Kenya feasibility study. You know how to upload a document right?

Mkuu Kafrican,
Kwa ufupi unataka kusema kua KE inataka ku-blackmail one road one belt project, hivi unadhani PRC hawana alternative route?
It’s all about pushing the right buttons just enough.. but not too much.
The land bridge that Kenyatta was talking about........ “ It commences the envisaged land bridge between the Indian and Atlantic Oceans, opening up the interior for trade and investment across seven countries, and opening China to Central Africa, and further on, beyond the Atlantic Ocean,” the President said.

Is a plan by China to build/extend the SGR eigther from Msa or from Lamu all the way to Cameroon port so that cargo from the Americas can be transported by rail then packed into Asian bound ships and vice verser. Ships won’t have to travel around Africa in weeks , cargo will go through Africa in a matter of days.

The grate equatorial land bridge
the-great-equitorial-land-bridge-world-map.jpg

Of course kuna alternatives, but now that the Chinese have funded phase 1 and 2A, it will be kind of difficult for them to pick another alternative and start drawing another route all over again. It’s much easier for them to just pay a few billions (relatively speaking)... China want to have its own ‘sues canal’ that it owns and has control over just like the Americans and the brits....they also have something to loose hata Kama it’s just small, it will be kind of embarrassing for China if on their quest to build their own canal they start by having to find another route. this is what Kenya is gambling that China will have to fold .
