The UK government said the changes to student visas that was announced last year will be effective from April 2012.
The new visa policy will cut abuse of student visa route and ensure only the brightest and the best students who can stay and work in the UK, Immigration Minister of the UK Damian Green was quoted as saying in a statement issued by the Kathmandu-based British Embassy.
This policy will also bar international students to work in the UK while the current Post Study Work route is allowing students to work in the UK for two years even after their studies is completed.
However, the talented students graduating from a university will still have the opportunity to stay on in the UK, but from April they will need a skilled job offer from a reputable employer accredited by the UK Border Agency with a salary of £20,000 or more.
The change is part of the student visa system reforms to attract the brightest and best while cutting down on abuse, the statement added.
