..lazima tuelewe mchango wa taasisi za makanisa ktk utoaji wa huduma mbalimbali za kijamii nchini. sioni kwanini serikali ijiweke mbali na taasisi zinazotoa msaada mkubwa kwa jamii kiasi hicho.

Hakuna mtu anayepinga kuwa wakati wa uhuru na hadi hivi sasa, wakristu wameelimika zaidi ya waislamu katika kile kinachoitwa elimu ya kizungu. Pamoja na nia nzuri ya Nyerere ya kuondoa tofauti hizo asingeweza kugawa nyadhfa sawa sawa baina ya wakristu na waislamu. Kufanya hivyo kungezua utata maana hata huko kwenye ukristu kuna madhehebu kibao ambayo bila shaka nayo yangedai yagawiwe nyadhfa sawa na wengine. Wakati wa uhuru vile vile ni sehemu kubwa tu ya watanganyika walikuwa wakifuata imani za asili na hawakushikana na ukristu wala uislamu. Wakati huo huo kulikuwa na vijana kibao ambao walipata mwamko wa kikomunisti na kuwa atheists. Huko huko Tanganyika, sehemu kubwa ya uchumi ilishikwa na waumini wa Hindu na wafuasi wa Guru Nanak, hawa nao tungewapeleka wapi? Kilichofuatwa ni kuhakikisha watu wanapewa nyadhfa kutokana na merit na sio vigezo vya rangi, dini au ukabila. Ni hali kama hiyo ambayo aliikuta Mandiba Afrika Kusini. Wasomi wengi na wenye uwezo na uzoefu wa administration walikuwa weupe. Badala ya kuwatimua na kudai kuwa nafasi zao zishikwe na weusi bila kujali qualifications zao, aliwakumbatia na kuwaambia kuwa cha msingi si rangi bali uzalendo. sasa tumuite Mandela kuwa alikuwa na usongo na watu weusi na alikuwa kibaraka wa wazungu? Na ndivyo alivyofanya Nyerere na wazalendo wengine, waislamu kwa wakristu kwa wasio na dini. Waliiweka uzalendo mbele na hata pale mwenye dini mwenzao alipokosea hawakuchelea kumuumbua. Nyerere akakosana na mkatoliki mwenzie Kambona na waislamu wa TANU wakakataa kurubuniwa na EAMWS. Ndivyo ilivyokuwa na ndivyo inatakiwa kuwa.

The plan to finish Prof. Malima would arrive in the form of what came to be known as ‘tax aversion scandal' which Family Mirror reported, "Prof. Malima personally benefited from dubious transactions leading to the loss of billions of shillings in government revenue." It was reported in the press including government (Daily News) and party (Uhuru) dailies that Prof. incorrectly advised president Mwinyi to pay USD 12 million as compensation to one H.P. Steyn for property acquired by the government in 1992. The truth of the matter is that the property was acquired as per Acquisition and Transfer of Management Act. No. 20 of 1980 section 11 provides for compensation. Interesting is the fact that five members in the Christian lobby had by dubious means appropriated 2000 hectares of Steyn's farm (Laigwan Ranch). The decision by the government to pay compensation and return part of the land to Steyn threatened the interest of those members. The government swftly moved to probe into the "scandal."

Mohamed Aboud, Auditor Exchequer and Auditor General compiled what came to be known as Presidential Probe Report which implicated Prof. Malima in tax exemptions. Between July and September 1994 tax exemptions amounted to shs billion 19.36 were passed. IPC passed exemptions amounting to shs billion 11.61 equivalent of 60% of all tax exemptions given. Tax exemptions for raw material for industries were shs. 3.3 billion equivalent to 17.1% while exemptions for Registered Dealers Certificate (RDC) was 3.04 billion equivalent to 15.7% but this was in actual fact not tax exemption but deferred tax.

This report was submitted to the Minister of Finance Kikwete. President Mwinyi called Prof. Malima on Monday of the same week which the report was submitted and informed him that Kikwete and Aboud had presented to him a report which was extremely damaging to him. Prof. Malima was presented with a copy which he took home. He called back President Mwinyi and informed him that the report was full of lies and he was ready to provide the truth to all the allegations levelled against him in detail. This was a game which Prof. Malima had excelled. Throughout his political carrier and since he stood up to challenge the Christian lobby in the government he had got used to lies being hurled against him and consequently to provide definite answers to them. The Christian lobby being aware of Prof. Malima's ability of elaboration of details and with precision and with his gift of retention of facts and figures and of his command of both languages that is Kiswahili and English was scared he would ridicule them both in the cabinet and in Parliament.

The press was in frenzy believing that now it had Prof. Malima where it wanted him. This was the kind of material which you could sell papers with for days. Prof. Malima was full aware of the kind of game which was being played between the President, the Christian Lobby and the press. He too, had his own plan. Prof. Malima had drafted his resignation letter and he redrafted his resignation and wrote a press statement giving his version of the episode. The following morning President Mwinyi called and told him that it was time he resigned. Prof. Malima reminded the president that he had wanted to resign along time ago and had stopped him. President Mwinyi told him that the negative press was too much for him to bear. He told Prof. Malima that he knew in his heart of hearts that all that was said about him were lies but the pressure upon him was unbearable. Prof. Malima had enough of the president. He handed him his letter of resignation and copy of the press statement. President Mwinyi refused his letter of resignation and would only accept it minus the Press statement.

President Mwinyi was shocked in what he found in Prof. Malima's statement to the press. Prof. Malima was opening a new front. If that information becomes public he would have to form a probe committee to investigate the facts. The government at that particular time was in no condition to face Prof. Malima and his Muslim supporters. The easy way out for President Mwinyi was to gag Prof. Malima. By refusing the press statement, Prof. Malima was being denied the right of being heard. People were being denied the right to know the other side of the story.

We need to come into terms with the reality that the Church particularly the Catholic Church is in control of the Government by proxy. Through unseen hands it manipulates the political system in such a way its influence permeates everything from the Mass Media to selection of students to join secondary schools and other institutions of higher learning, securing scholarship, employment, promotion, for political office etc. etc. In short the Church is in control of the Executive, Judiciary and the Legislature. This is the reason the political system has been able manipulate the law with impunity as far as in effects Muslim interests, it has been able to ignore serious petitions submitted to the President, Prime Minster, and the Parliament by Muslims, it has been able to control and shape public opinion against Muslims.

The Church perceive Islam as an enemy it therefore has in operation strategies to counter its development. Evidence to this fact has been uncovered by Muslim as well as Christian scholars. The government has decided to keep silent despite of Muslim effort to have the allegations investigated in order to avert conflict between itself and Muslims.

Through research and many years of observations it is now possible to know a little how the unseen hand works. It works like a secret society and yet it is not one. It works in a two prong fashion. It has agents in all important institutions of the civil society who co-ordinates their activities when the need arise forming what could be identified as the Christian lobby. This is a multi-denomination power house. Interesting is the fact that this alliance has been able to even recruit Muslims and alleviated them to important positions in the government and the media. The main function of these Muslims is to soften blows against Muslims interests and give a pleasant perception in the eyes of the public in issues where the government has to confront Muslims. The dirty work for example, to order force to be used against Muslims or to undermine a Muslim in an important position who it is to the interest of the Church that he be dealt with, such tasks will always be apportioned to these Muslims in the Christian lobby.

Maelezo yako ni kama kwamba unakubali kuwa wakati wa uhuru kulikuwa na tofauti ya kielimu angalau kwa mtazamo wa kisekula kuwa waislamu walikuwa nyuma ya wakristo.Pia unakubali kuwa utoaji madaraka serikalini inafaa uzingatie uwezo wa kielimu.
Suala ni jee unakubali kuwa waislamu walibaguliwa kupata elimu na wakoloni na si kutokana na kwamba wao hawathamini elimu kama ambavyo mara nyingi wamekuwa wakipakaziwa hivyo?.Mbona hiyo hali imeendelea hata baada ya uhuru,ni nani aliyeendeleza ubaguzi huo?.
Kwenye post no.262 Mohammed Said amesema hivi:In 1981 Warsha conducted a social research project which no Muslim organisation had attempted before. It commissioned its educationists to write a research paper to show why Muslim students were lagging behind in education. When these findings were made public and distributed to throughout the country it came as a shock to Muslims and the government. For the first time it was revealed that there was a system in the Ministry of Education supported by Christian functionaries which was discriminatory to Muslim youths, purposely barring them from institutions of higher learning. Such accusations and disclosure particularly coming from Muslims, threatened national unity. The government did not want to find out whether those findings on education were correct or not. Its interest was to know the brains behind Warsha isolate them from Muslims and then persecute them. The government was unprepared for such revelations and was worried by the direction which Muslims were taking. Warsha were accused of being anti-government and perpetrating animosity between Muslims and Christians through their writings. Nyerere ordered the closer of all the Muslim seminaries.

Chuma. Ahsante kwa swali lako. Historia ni muhimu sana. Bila historia Tanzania itakuwa nchi isiyo na mashujaa wake. Je ulikuwa unakijua kisa hiki hapa chini?:

It is strange that this milestone (the Abdulwahid Sykes' and Julius Nyerere's contest for presideny of the TAA) in Nyerere's life has neither been documented nor accorded importance. In his whole political career Nyerere was never again to face a more formidable opponent than Abdulwahid. This contest between Abdulwahid and Nyerere has become a legend. Some reports have it that Abdulwahid won the election, others say Nyerere won by a single vote; yet others say that TAA members had to vote thrice to get the winner since the votes were tying. Dossa Aziz reports that Abdulwahid did not lose that election, and went on to say that:
‘There was no way Nyerere could defeat Abdulwahid in Dar es Salaam of 1950s. Abdulwahid was not defeated in that election. We all wanted it to be that way. We wanted Nyerere to assume TAA leadership.'
Nyerere himself has never talked about this election or how he came to lead TANU in Dar es Salaam. The nearest he got to reflect on Abdulwahid was in the farewell speech to Elders of Dar es Salaam, and unfortunately his memory failed him as he could not recall what post Abdulwahid was holding when he (Nyerere) joined TAA in 1952.

In order to understand the dilemma facing Abdulwahid, Nyerere and the TAA leadership, particularly the inner circle, one has to keep in mind that Muslims were a majority in Dar es Salaam and were in control of local politics. Very few Muslims had confidence in mission-educated Christians. They were perceived as being too close to the colonial state to take a leading role in the struggle for independence, and many people used the election to show their objection to Nyerere. They saw him as an outsider withdrew their support from the association. Nyerere was new to the town. He had no political base of his own and was for the most of the week teaching at Pugu, outside Dar es Salaam. Abdulwahid was flamboyant and as president of TAA he had put colour into the office. He used to invite TAA activists to his house for lunches and dinners and this added to his popularity. At that time many thought Nyerere would not fit into Abdulwahid's shoes.
Tewa Said recollects that the day before the election at Arnatouglo Hall, Abdulwahid went to his house in the evening. At that time Tewa lived in Pemba street not very far from Abdulwahid's house. Abdulwahid had this to say to Tewa about the leadership change in TAA that they had decided to effect:
"Tewa, tomorrow we are going to give this man, Nyerere, power to run this country. From there on, once we elect him to lead us there is no way we can take that power away from him. We do not know him very well but I hope everything is going to turn all right."
Tewa recollects further the events leading to Nyerere's election as president of the TAA and says:
"The only edge which Nyerere had over the late Abdulwahid was the university degree. For almost four years since assuming office in 1950, Abdulwahid refused to call a delegates' conference for one reason or another, until when he met Nyerere. If Abdulwahid had gone to Makerere, I believe we would have formed TANU much earlier, probably before 1954 and Abdulwahid would have become president, even if challenged by Nyerere."
Many years later after Tanganyika had become independent; Abdulwahid was asked why he did not withdraw his name in the 1953 election to pave the way for Nyerere to assume leadership unopposed. According to one informant, Abdulwahid replied:
"There was great opposition against Nyerere at that time and some members within my own executive committee were putting pressure upon me not to concede to him. I was a favourite candidate and withdrawing my name would have marred the election. TAA was a serious political organisation that believed in democratic elections. Leadership of the party had to be acquired through competition with regard to ability and merit. We chose Nyerere to stand for election because we had confidence in him and I was party to that decision."

Ila pia pamoja na ucha Mungu huo, don't rule out hiyo theory ya "Christian Lobby" if at all, it really existed, kunauwezekano wa Jakaya kujikuta alikuwa akitumiwa bila mwenyewe kujijua, na hivyo kazi ya Aboud ni kupokea kila alicholetewa.

Mathalan kufutwa kwa mahakama ya kadhi, wakati wa mkoloni ilikuwepo na ilioparate smoothly, Kenya ipo, Uganda ipo, lakini kwa Tanzania ni kigugumizi, Sheikh Mkuu yupo na Bakwata yake, Sheikh Yahya alipoanzisha Balukta, kilichomkuta mnakijua, na hatimaye kulazimika kurejea Bakwata, hivyo kuna uwezekano kama ni kweli hiyo lobby ipo, basi inawatumia Waislamu wenyewe bila ya wao kujijua.

Ila pia naomba kumtetea Mwalimu Nyerere katika teuzi zake, hakuangalia dini wala kabila, ila ni mpaka kele za udini tena Ukatoliki zilipopigwa, ndipo akamtuma katibu wake amletere majina, mawaziri wangapi ni Wakristo, na kati yao wangapi ni Wakatoliki, na yeye alishangaa!.

Historia hii inapowekwa wazi ni kuwa kama imbalance hii ikiendelea haitoleta matunda mazuri kwa taifa letu.

Haki ipi ndugu yangu?....hata mimi muislam lakini sioni mapungufu yoyoye kikatiba katika haki zangu....wako Wakristu wengi tu amabao wamechangia mengi katika kuleta Uhuru na maendeleo ya nchi hii na hawamo katika hiyo historia uitakayo...sasa mbona huwataji?
 
Mohamed Aboud, Auditor Exchequer and Auditor General compiled what came to be known as Presidential Probe Report which implicated Prof. Malima in tax exemptions. Between July and September 1994 tax exemptions amounted to shs billion 19.36 were passed. IPC passed exemptions amounting to shs billion 11.61 equivalent of 60% of all tax exemptions given. Tax exemptions for raw material for industries were shs. 3.3 billion equivalent to 17.1% while exemptions for Registered Dealers Certificate (RDC) was 3.04 billion equivalent to 15.7% but this was in actual fact not tax exemption but deferred tax.

This report was submitted to the Minister of Finance Kikwete. President Mwinyi called Prof. Malima on Monday of the same week which the report was submitted and informed him that Kikwete and Aboud had presented to him a report which was extremely damaging to him. Prof. Malima was presented with a copy which he took home. He called back President Mwinyi and informed him that the report was full of lies and he was ready to provide the truth to all the allegations levelled against him in detail. This was a game which Prof. Malima had excelled. Throughout his political carrier and since he stood up to challenge the Christian lobby in the government he had got used to lies being hurled against him and consequently to provide definite answers to them. The Christian lobby being aware of Prof. Malima's ability of elaboration of details and with precision and with his gift of retention of facts and figures and of his command of both languages that is Kiswahili and English was scared he would ridicule them both in the cabinet and in Parliament.

Rais ni muislamu,, Waziri wa fedha ni muislamu na Mkaguzi Mkuu wa Hesabu za Fedha za Serikali ni muislamu na wote waliona Kighoma Malima ana matatizo, wewe bado unaona mkono wa wakatoliki! Lugha ya Kighoma Malima kuwa alikuwa na maelezo ni bravado, maana hao waliomchoma walitumia vitabu. Na si peke yake aliyeunguzwa na scandal hiyo, naibu Katibu Mkuu wake nae alitoswa! Uozo uliokuwepo wizara ya fedha wakati wa Kighoma Malima ulikuwa wazi kwa kila mtu ambaye hakuvaa miwani ya udini. Hao waislamu wenzake wasingemtosa kama wangeona kuwa ameonewa! Uwezo wa lugha ya kiingereza na kiswahili si ishara ya integrity. Kighoma Malima was a mediocre Finance Minister and very likely corrupt also. Kumgeuza mtu kama huyu kuwa martyr katika vita ya kuwatetea waislamu ni matusi kwa watanzania.

According to one informant, Abdulwahid replied:
"There was great opposition against Nyerere at that time and some members within my own executive committee were putting pressure upon me not to concede to him. I was a favourite candidate and withdrawing my name would have marred the election. TAA was a serious political organisation that believed in democratic elections. Leadership of the party had to be acquired through competition with regard to ability and merit. We chose Nyerere to stand for election because we had confidence in him and I was party to that decision.[

Ni hawa, mkristu na muislamu ndio walioongoza TAA. Uamuzi wa kugeuza TAA kuwa TANU ulifanywa na Abdulwahid Sykes, Ally Sykes, John Rupia, Dossa Aziz na Julius Nyerere katika kikao chao mwaka 1953, New Street. Mkutano uliozaa TANU, pamoja na hao tunaowajua walikuwepo: Tewa Said Tewa, Patrick Kunambi, Kasella Bantu, C.O. Milinga, Germano Pacha, Joseph Kimalanda, Japhet Kirilo, Abubakar Ilanga, L.M. Bugoha, Saadan Abdu Kandoro, S.M. Kibwana, L.M. Kakaranga. Haukuwa uchaguzi wa waislamu wala wakristu. Ulikuwa ni chaguo la wazalendo. Wengi wao, wakristu na waislamu, hakuna anayewakumbuka.
