A 42-year-old deputy head teacher of St Immaculate Primary School in Kalungu District, Ronald Kimbugwe, has died suddenly just days before he was due to serve as a scout during the 2026 Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE).
Kimbugwe reportedly complained of feeling unwell on Saturday night after watching the Liverpool-Arsenal match. He was rushed to St Lawrence Hospital, Villa Maria, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
According to family friend Ibra Muliira, Kimbugwe was preparing to travel to Rwampara District, where the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) had deployed him as a scout for the examinations.
Kalungu District Education Officer Moses Isabirye expressed shock over his death, revealing that Kimbugwe was among 69 scouts who had completed their travel arrangements and were expected to report to Rwampara on Monday.
A friend also revealed that he had been battling diabetes, although no postmortem report had been shared with the family by press time.
