GVEP INTERNATIONAL
Purpose
This following are fixed term contracts (with a possibility of extension) in line with GVEP Internationals philosophy, donor requirements and stakeholder expectations. The roles will help deliver the CARE[SUP]2[/SUP] project described below in a complex environment. Capital Access for Renewable Energy Enterprises (CARE[SUP]2[/SUP]) project funded by Sida. GVEP International is implementing all aspects of this programme which will support the growth of a sustained market for renewable energy, focusing on e-MSMEs (energy-focused micro, small and medium sized enterprises) in East Africa, as a means to drive economic prosperity. The project has three main components, namely a Technical Assistance Facility (TAF), a Loan Guarantee Fund (LGF) and Pipeline Development Projects (PDPs)
REGIONAL BUSINESS MENTORS 4 POSITIONS
Report to: Business Development Services Coordinator
Based in: Lake Zone, Tanzania
Main responsibilities include:
TECHNOLOGY MENTOR, SOLAR PHONE CHARGING 1 POSITION
Reports to: Business Development Services Coordinator
Based in: Mwanza, Tanzania
Main responsibilities include: · Support recruitment of entrepreneurs through assessing their technology skills · Training entrepreneurs on solar phone charging technology (covering system sizing, quality, installation, operations and maintenance) alongside the business training offered by the Business Development Services team · Mentoring entrepreneurs by identifying their technology needs that will also be useful in business planning and providing practical solutions to any arising technology issues · Assisting in technical due diligence for loan applications · Providing support to BDS coordinators in market development activities · Provide regular reports to the BDS Coordinator as may be required from time to time. Requirements · Minimum of a diploma in renewable energy technologies or electrical engineering with in depth knowledge of solar technology · Minimum of 2 years of experience in related field · Willingness to provide services in rural settings · Record of working with minimal supervision · Good communication and writing skills · Ability to manage and prioritise numerous tasks simultaneously · Willingness and license to use the motorbike to travel extensively within the Lake Zone

- Assisting in the mobilisation and recruitment of entrepreneurs into the project
- Mentoring entrepreneurs on a regular basis: identifying needs, supporting business planning and providing practical solutions to arising issues
- Empowering entrepreneurs in order to help them access loans from Financial Institutions and administer them soundly
- Conducting initial due diligence of prospective loan applicants and following up with entrepreneurs who have successfully obtained a loan
- Providing Business Development Support (BDS) Coordinators in market development activities
- Collecting M&E data using feedback from this data to advise entrepreneurs on further improving their businesses
- Providing weekly reports to the BDS Coordinators
- Willingness and license to use a motorbike to travel extensively within the Lake Zone region
