Increasing consumption of hyena meat in kenya

Residents in the wajir started consuming hyena meat, after authorization of it.
Hunting, trading, and eating hyena is spreading in the area, which shocked some residents .
Anonymous source told Hiiraan Online that the consumption of hyena meat increased in the past few months.
Consumption of hyena meat became a matter of discussion among the residents ,as such is very alien to the culture. Anonymous sources told HOL ,surrounding environs is spreading misleading information that hyena meat has certain health benefits and cures many health ailments, albeit, the religious prohibition of consuming wild animals with canine tooth, Prophet Mohamed (peace be on him) states that "forbidden is the eating of any wild animals with a canine tooth and of any bird with talons." "Wild animals" denotes those which prey on others and devour them by tearing them apart, e.g., the lion, leopard, wolf, and the like; birds with talons such as the hawk, eagle, falcon, etc., do the same.
According to Islamic teachings consuming the meat of scavengers is prohibited,at this kind of meat is approved by Islam. Islamic scholars in Kenya gave contradicting interpretations to the matter. It is not yet known if this is a religious edict, but the consumption is becoming widespread there and its surroundings
“One Kg of camel meat is approximately Shillings 1000 where as one Kg of hyena meat is double of that” said a resident ,who declined to give his name. Another anonymous resident told Hiiraan Online that there are some restaurants that started selling hyena meat with different foods. The price of hyena meat has risen and it’s affordable to only rich people.

hii ni vituko vya kenya, hakuna tofauti na ile time kulikua na hype hadi yai moja la quail lilikua lauzwa mia sita sababu ya demand, sasa unaeza linunua na 50bob..... huku kenya watu hupenda kujitengezea biashara yenye iko na value chain, sasa sai watu wanajifaidisha kwa kuuza nyama ya fisi kilo ni elfu mbili.... hahaha daylight robbery... hio ndo inaitwa entreprenual spirit.... create a unique product, raise the demand then make a kill out of it

Hehehe!! Hii umeifukua kutoka wapi, haya twende nayo jinsi ilivyo, naomba kuonja nyama ya fisi maana naona hii taarifa yako inasema ina madini muhimu. Nipo radhi kula hata mbwa na chochote kile, ila nyama ya albino ndio siwezi onja maana inahusu kuwachinja binadamu maskini kama mnavyofanya.

(mbali na hao wanaowinda na kuuza hio nyama, watu ambao utasema wako na pesa ndo wananunua nyama hizo, kama nilivyosema hapo awali, mtu maskini hawezi acha nyama ya ngombe kilo 260 aende akanunue nyama ya fisi bei 2000, na ikiwa mtu maskini ni mwindaji wa fisi, hawezi akala nyama yote ya fisi aliemshika wakati anaeza akauzia mahoteli bei ya 2000 kwa kilo ambapo anaeza akatumia hio faida kununua nyama ya ngombe na bado akabaki na faida nyingi sana, kama fisi ni tuseme kilo 30 hivi, hapo mwindaji anatengeneza faida ya 60,000!!!!! mwisho wa siku!!!! niambie kama we ni maskini na umewinda na kushika huyo fisi, utamla ama utatengeneza elfu sitini ambayo hata unaeza nunua mbuzi wazima kama watano hivi.
