Kwa mtu anayekijua vizuri Kiswahili kuongea, kusoma na kuandika, au hata anayekijua kwa mazoea tu, kujifunza Kiingereza ni kama kujifunza lugha yenye makosa mengi ya kimantiki na matamshi.

Watu wengi wanafikiri kuwa waongeaji wa Kiswahili wanashindwa au hawapendi Kiingereza kwa sababu hawana uwezo mkubwa wa kujifunza lugha ya kigeni.

Nimekuwa nafikiria sana kama hilo jambo ni kweli, au pia Kiingereza kinakuwa kigumu kwa waongeaji wa Kiswahili wengi kwa sababu ukijua Kiswahili unajua lugha ambayo kwa kiasi kikubwa imenyooka (formulaic grammar and phonetics, with very few exceptions to the rules) na Kiingereza grammar yake ni kama half rules, half exceptions, matamshi hayana formula kila neno inabidi ujifunze kulitamka upya.

Kujifunza lugha kama hiyo, kwa watu waliozoea lugha yetu ya Kiswahili ambayo ipo highly structured, inakuwa tabu sana.
