Watoto wawili nchini Uganda wamefariki dunia huku wengine 11 wakipelekwa hospitali baada kula kitafunwa aina ya chapati kilichotengenezwa kwa sumu ya kuua wadudu badala ya mafuta.
Watoto wote 13 wanatoka familia moja magharibi mwa Uganda na inasemekana kwamba waliokuwa walikuwa na umri wa 5 na 6.
Gazeti hilo limeripoti kwamba watoto hao walijipikia wenyewe vitafunwa hivyo ambavyo vinafahamika kama Kabalagala.
Watoto hao inasemekana kwamba miongoni mwa viambato walivyotumia wakati wanapika ilikuwa dawa ya kuua wadudu inayonyunyizwa kwenye matikiti maji na mbogamboga zinazokuzwa wakidhani kwamba ni mafuta.
Watoto hao walianza kutapika na kupelekwa Hospitali ya Busolwe ambapo wawili wao waliaga dunia huku wengine 11 wakiendelea kupata matibabu.
Mkuu wa polisi wa eneo hilo, Ceasar Tusingwire alithibitisha tukio hilo.
"Watoto 13 kutoka familia moja wanashukiwa kwamba wamekula chapati zenye sumu. Walichanganya dawa ya kuua wadudu na mafuta ya kupikia kwa bahati mbaya," ameeleza bw Tusingwire.
"Walionusurika wanaendelea vizuri lakini bado hawajapa nguvu. Tunajitahidi kuhakiksha watoto wamerejea katika hali yao ya kawaida, mhudumu mmoja wa afya amesema hivyo.
Polisi imesema miili ya waliokufa inafanyiwa uchunguzi na kuongeza kwamba huku upelelzi wa tukio hilo ukiendelea.

Two children have died and 11 others admitted to Busolwe General Hospital, Butaleja District after eating suspected ‘poisonous' pancakes commonly known as kabalagala.
The victims are all children of Mr Kalimu Mulongo, a residents of Mabale village, Mabale parish in Budumba Sub County.
The children reportedly used pesticides meant for water melon and vegetables to make pancakes after mistaking it for cooking oil.
The deceased were only identified as Namusalo, 5, and Salya, 6.
It’s alleged that after eating the pancakes, they started vomiting before they were rushed to the hospital for medication.
The Bukedi Regional Police Commander, Mr Ceasar Tusingwire confirmed the incident.
“Thirteen children from the same homestead are suspected to have taken poisonous pancakes. They mixed pesticides with cooking oil accidentally, “Mr Tusingwire said.
He said that two children have been confirmed dead and 11 others are admitted to Busolwe hospital.
Police said they have launched investigations into the case.
He said death by suspected poison was reported at Busolwe Police station.
A medical officer at Busolwe hospital who asked not to be named so as to speak freely said the victims were vomiting and diarrheating when they were admitted.
“The survivors are getting on well but they are still weak. We are working tirelessly to make sure these children are back to normal, “the medic said.
Butaleja District Police Commander, Hassan Katumba Mugerwa, said those currently admitted in the hospital are out of dangers.
“I visited them in the hospital today and I can confirm that they are out of danger and we thank God for this, “ Mr Mugerwa said.
He said the bodies of two victims were taken to Mbale municipal council mortuary for post mortem as investigations continue.
