Mbona lakini tuna-jump ku-conclude kuwa waliohusika ni Alshaabab...
..Nd'o Kenya hio!...There is always a political angle to these press conferences.Kumbe yote hii ni mawazo ya Saitoti...uchunguzi wa polisi bado:hand:
Lazima kuwa makini na hawa wanasiasa.
Kazi ipo.....Nd'o Kenya hio!...There is always a political angle to these press conferences.
...kem tusubiri.
It is not as simple as you may make it seem, if you can remember 1962-67 era, so the KDF colonel Cyrus Oguna has said time and again that it could be alshabaab sympathizers or other groups, but they cannot certainly conclude that is Alshabaab.
I fully agree, Mzalendo452, ..but... I say again,... but.. The Somali conflict is nothing to be taken as a simple matter, that can be solved by simply sending in troops to "fight" Al-shabaab and sympathizers. First of all, ask yourself, who is Alshabaab?.. Could be anyone in the street, but how do you recognize them? You can't.! At the moment, KDF have got troops in Somalia fighting Al=Shabaab militias.! Don't you think it could have been a good idea to send troops in Eastleigh? What is the point of fighting an enemy outside the country, while the enemy in particular is sitting in your backyard? Is that clever?
You see, I have been to a town called Bosaso in Somalia on a UN mission. Personally, whenever I go to a new place, I make it a point of mixing with the locals to see what makes them tick. The Somali conflict is nothing new. It is a very ancient clan war. In the old days, they didn't have modern weapons (the had only clubs, bows and arrows) so the war was not significant. Believe me, no one can ever control Somalis, except the clan elders. Sending troops, will only make matters worse. Also you have to understand that Somalis are a fiercely proud people. Among other things they hate, is outsiders interfering in their wars and clan affairs.
Don't be duped by this "Islamic militants" business. Pope Benedict is more Islamic than Al-shabaab. I tell you. Carrying the so-called Islamic name is just a trick to earn sympathy from Islamic groups.

whatever the somalis do as long as it infringes on the Kenyan interest warrants a response. Before KDF deployed all scenarios were played out in a control room and a contigent deployment at the border couldnt do the trick. Mark you KDF have been patrolling the borders since it was closed and troops deployed back in 2006 or somewhere around those timelines. This never helped, the ambushes persisted coz the border is just too big to police. The KDF assault was the last card and it has degraded this faceless outfit considerably, Created conditions that favour lapsset and also resumption of normalcy at the border front. If you ask me, KDF has achieved its primary GOAL by making LAPPSET possible. Kismayu can be toyed around with for a while for strategic purposes, *join the dots*.
When it comes to matters of defence against external threats, Kenya has always proved that when it carries out Miltary operations, they are not driven by factors like strategic interests, and this is where the international community gets the whole thing wrong. And BTW, there is a significant commendation internationally on how the Kenyan incursion has helped almost cripple Alshabaab to its knees.
