Chato will always be a ghost town because "politics of the day" not the powerful hand of the market behind it
Planners of Chato have one killer assumption that "if they build they will come..." Never forget to watch the movie in the same name by Kevin Costner to get to the grips of the matter at hand..
The gospel truth is cost considerations will make "them" not to come...again there will be political pressure to have the same facilities erected everywhere because of affordability and convenience considerations make it unattractive to pay a pilgrimage to this money wastrel idea...so this utopia of Chato turned into world class medical tourism will just frizzle out faster than its originators have rested in their shallow graves... add with poor medical services like Muhimbili few will find the wisdom of "kuunga mkono juhudi za Mheshimiwa..." Chato will never produce Indian Apollo Hospital...facts are just facts!
A stadium is thought will bring soccer fanatical but the truth is the Chato residents are not soccer mad people so expecting outsiders will fill their hotels just to see Yanga and Simba which happens once in a blue moon vastly excel in reminding us what we have here is undoubtedly mediocrity of damning magnitude. ...Had it been Bwagamoyo it could have sumptuously work because of proximity to the commercial hub of Dar but this agronomic town with conflicting values, ambition and vision just another false step....Chato is no Bwagamoyo....get it in your thick brain now before it's too late.
We have too many dinosaurs [emoji3072] [emoji3072] which begin with Dodomea so we need to take a deep breath...
Incredibly, turning Chato into tourist attraction without giving thought on ecological variables capped how deep the planning poverty of our planners..Chato national park will die but in between it is going to intensify land use conflicts already in explosive levels...the least the Chato residents need right now is an exacerbation of land use conflicts with wildlife but we have extremely good news for the orphans of this project...future leaders will end their anguish by degazetting this preposterous "Alice in Wonderland"...again, watch the movie in the same name to broaden your understanding of issues under discussion
Moreover, Chato planners are shortsighted because before throwing money on buildings the first thing was to tackle niggling water supply issues
Chato has a chronic water shortage and instead of arresting the huge elephant in the room they are making it worse by increasing water demand while they have made no effort to do anything on the supply side...
There's fascination with buildings because of commissions but even water facilities have that common denominator so why prioritize buildings rather than water remain unsolved mystery of the last five years.....the idea of diverting Lake Victoria is another dumb idea because now we have the benefit of interactive experience...sustainability issues have rocked the current project where planners were eager to pocket commissions and ignored the real roadblocks arising from cost benefit analysis: Diversion of Lake Victoria waters only make plenty of sense if planners ensured gravity not pumps moved the waters...pumps running, maintenance and replacement cost just out of reach of peasantry economy unless Exchequer absorb the costs...
This happens when you steal elections, God not with you to guide your tiny steps because once a thief always a thief, we are very much afraid to disclose. ..
