Why Magufuli administration misses the point on Government splurge

A couple of ccm errants have gone home to roost after tasting the politics of the wilderness in the opposition with no plum jobs to share are back to the party of "baba na mama" where with garlanded help from NEC government largesse is there for nitpicking!

Did you hear what the incumbent ccm secretary general said?

He pledged the ccm central committee's total dedication unto the new spirit of hardworking, morality and loyalty to the new chairman.

The question that quietly kept popping up in mind was: are those ethos not dedicated before the change of guard in the ruling party?

Equally jaw dropping is a question what kind of ethos did the central committee dedicated itself during the Jk era?

When will the police begin to protect us rather than the status quo?

Thereafter this will be a better place to live not in some fictitious animal farm where some animals are more equal than others.

As the status quo demand more security than the rest of us the gist has to be why?

Protecting them from what if not their own insatiable avarice

I did not know till yesterday JK was the Bagamoyo president and not a national one till I heard his valedictory speech there!

It is sad in 21st Century we still churn out tribal leaders masquerading as national ones.

The Machinga complex scams is a damning reminder of what is wrong with this nation.

There was a smattering of erecting a superstructure to ease the burden of hawkers littering our roads unto an eyesore.

Both NSSF as a lending institution and Dar City as a chronic debtor had a moral duty to carry out this project in a manner that will respect the project objectives which were to provide low income hawkers with affordable places to sell their products.

But these honourable project objectives were treated with contempt when project costs became extortionate and unpayable risking the underlying assumptions behind the vision and mission statements of the project.

Project costs laden by outsize interest rates, over invoiced construction costs and NSSF gazumping tendencies have made the Machinga Complex untenable to its ultimate clients who cannot and should not subsidize the snowballing swag.

So the loan repayment obligations has more than quadrupled with income revenue behoves a drop in the ocean.

Both NSSF and Dar City have a case to answer for undermining the project objectives because the Machinga Complex will soon witness ownership rights change hands to surrender to ruthless demands imposed by a hidden yet powerful hand of the market.

Maybe these were ulterior project objectives: pretending to serve the weaklings but really finding an excuse to kick them out after being slighted by a torpedoed balance sheet!

You will be surprised to learn the then Mayor of Dar City is the member of the central committee of CCM.

More troubling he will not be taken to court to answer these heinous charges against the people of this country.

Equally alarming is some of NSSF and Dar City bosses who had a motive to thwart project objectives to sate personal interests are without criminal duress over these heinous issues.

How do we define a dictatorial administration? The best example is during the mayhem of Pinochet rule in Chile.

He curtailed freedom of expression as a scapegoat to develop his nation only later to be criminally prosecuted for gross violations of human rights.

Our post independence experiences are replete with cases of repressions of freedoms of expression despite those rights being anchored in our constitution.

However the Magufuli administration so far is the most overzealous to curb constitutional rights such as freedoms of expression parlaying development demands trump those rights.

The Pinochet experience has proven beyond reasonable doubt abuses of human rights grow unabated whenever dissent is muzzled.

So the enforcement costs to decimate constitutional rights pertaining to freedom of expression in a form of reducing this great nation unto a state police, business foreclosures during unconstitutionally criminalized political demonstrations and resources dissipated in criminal and civil prosecutions makes any verifiable cost cutting measures looks not only symbolic but far more important impotent to take us to the Promised Land.

It took Chadema a couple of years to appreciate judicial interventions are slow, costly and often unsuitable to address pressing undermined political rights such as freedoms of expression.

Their current option to carry out a national level demonstrations will alarmingly overstretch our under resourced yet very partisan police force and will flicker out whatever emblems of "sparks for a new dawn" the rulers of the day had been bragging to have pioneered!

This could proffer Chadema and Co. a platform to launch far reaching reforms to our skewed electoral process which is behind the misplaced arrogance, pride, and intransigence now part of métier of the Magufuli administration.

Judge Mutungi needs to be a fairer arbitrator but not take sides.

As the registrar of political parties ought to rebuke the police declaration that thwarts constitutional rights of political parties including the rights to organize, communicate and express themselves as they deem it fit.

Red flagging only the opposition is prejudicial to the impartiality which his office must uphold notwithstanding the cravings of the rulers of the day to reduce our democratic rights under multi-party unto the relics of mono party.

I think, it is not possible for him to point a finger to police declaration as he is an appointee of the president so he has to act to reflect his interest. Also, timidity that they experience from his appointer is another issue that obstruct them to raise a sad cry and shout against the aforementioned situation.

The summarily dismissal of Ms. Mbilinyi to head Bagamoyo municipal council after few days of appointment shows this administration has no respect to justice but far more pertinent is NEC will never run a free and fair election until it severed colonial ties with its election agent which is the amenable local government!

Well said but if he is a belly worshiper the best strategy is to keep his silence rather than attempting to remove a smote in Chadema while a monstrous beam in his eye is blocking his own sight.

Nothing but hypocrisy
This is why some of us are very critical of both the Warioba circus and the unconstitutional effort to change the constitution for want of accountability which in part has to do with lack of security of tenure for holders of constitutional offices.

The registrar of political parties bootlicks her appointers partially because he lacks security of tenure: a pensive constitutional aberration.

What further proof of bureaucratic prejudice from the very politicized office of the Registrar of political parties do we need?

1. Is respect for justice measured by the length of time between the date of an appointment to office and the date of revocation of the appointment? Pathetic!
2. "... NEC will never run a free and fair election until ..." Is this a statement of fact or your own opinion?

You are out of touch of the real issues behind this sacking.

She gave evidence in a court of law against a ccm parliamentary aspirant leading to the opposition triumph and after her reappointment ccm zealots complained and the ignominious sacking followed.

Had NEC not employing the services of local government in the last election she would not have deponed any evidence and her appointment would not have been subjected to the witch hunting.

The marriage of convenience between NEC and local government as its election supervising agent removes all kinds of pretence of a free and fair election.

Local government employees are holding their posts at the pleasure of appointer which has vested interests to rig an election to his favour.

Sometimes a little humility in declaring ignorance saves nine while arrogance which only succeeds in displaying your folly sucks!

So in short no correlation of this stinking appointment with democratic credentials as you had wittingly alleged.

And no opinion but restating the facts as they are.....
