If Magufuli had attempted to interfere with Zanzibar, CCM powebrokers would have silenced him with this:-

"We rigged you to power why not your neighbour?"

I believe Magufuli is captured in his own presidential triumph which was secured through daylight robbery.

If you do not believe in Tanzania democracy, then you should not complain when a fair and democratic result is obtained through the system you think is illegitimate. Because it is the will of the wrong people that has been expressed.

Big Achilles heel for Magufuli is gross misdiagnosis of the endemic problems bedevilling this nation.
Despite twenty plus years in the government he has failed to discern our problems are cancerous and not just painful cysts.

Misdiagnosis always lead to massive failures.

Then comes Magufuli administration while a couple of weeks in office seems lacking ideas of how to reform the government, and has so far been generating plenty of heat but very little substance.

Sweeteners may taste good on mouth but in the stomach are likely to foment gastric juice notorious for corroding the intestines. What this nation needs is reforms on good governance where accountability has been sacrificed at the altar of nepotism and sycophancy.

We need to restore pre-independence accountability if we are to reach where a president has no business to snatch duties and responsibilities of his juniors but to oversee them.

For start, he needs to acknowledge NEC ought to be fully investigated by an impartial commission how it conducted this election despite its numerous vain claims that the election was free, fair and transparent. We need a legislation to empower that commission but we also need the same commission to investigate thoroughly how this very partisan police interfered with the electoral process. We cannot face another election where UKAWA are adamant they were shortchanged and we have a president who may or may not be a squatter at our IKULU pretending to bribe us with "peremende" and expect for a different result.

On government splurge, we need concrete policies and pieces of legislation like capping staff emoluments based on a ratio of recurrent expenditure. What I have seen; so far, is a battle of nomenclatures which past administrations fought with equal zeal but lost because they never identified policy tools to do it.

Pre-independence accountability????????? Was there accountability during colonialism???? Give me a break!!!!!

Can you name one major official graft scam during colonial era? If you can't it is a proof there was accountability.

Far more important is to recognize that pre-independence era also includes pre-colonial era where evidence of massive looting of public coffers witnessed today were simply unthinkable!

As far as I am concerned you are very kind and magnanimous when taking into consideration this administration is pence wise but pounds foolish.

While they are focussing on cost cutting measures tied to keep change or sundries they are condoning electoral malpractices in Zanzibar now provoking the anger of the development partners.

MCC suspension is just a curtain riser and more donor fatigue is underway

You stop sitting allowances which will motivate seniors to attend the vital government meetings and dissuading the principal officers from deligation. Where key policy issues could be placed in the immature hands.

We don't need them! Africa in general and Tanzania in particular are in this state because they are being exploited by the very people that provide meaningless aid. If you really want to help Tanzania then you would tell the IMF to stop imposing policies that keep Tanzania in debt, as well as a whole list of other things including MCC. Tanzania is the richest country but yet the poorest, we need to strive on our natural resources and not donors.
