Cheers Ruta for your witty and incisive comments! Those that pinned hopes on Magufuli expecting that he would become a Deng Xiaoping or Lee Kuan Yew of Tanzania were (and still are) utterly mistaken. Anyone who reads history could precisely tell from the outset that Magufuli was a non starter. His use of rhetoric and slogan; and his fire-fighting approach have never worked elsewhere. And indeed, Tanzania is not thirsty for such a ruthless ruler. Tanzania needs strong governance institutions that deliver democracy, accountability, openness and economic equity. Magufuli's trademark populist actions are ony aimed at stirring political passions. Similar actions abound in our post independence history but they never left any notable marks. Nyerere embarked on wanton nationalisations of industries, buildings and even cooperative unions at the peril of the national economy, but he was appauded! And, remember Sokoine's notorious Human Deployment (Nguvu Kazi) and Economic Saboteurs (Wahujumu Uchumi) campaigns?

Not really. You are just another disillusioned voter who's Utopian views been smashed by reality.
Reality! Who is illusioned here?I know you want it to be real, the problem is JPM hails from CCM so my dear , all that you are seeing is a mirage as you get closer to it ,it will disappear.Do not expect changes to come from CCM -CCM ni ile ile whether its magufuli or whomever.

What have your comments to do with what I typed? I am not complaining, merely observing the absurd self - claims which have nothing to do with the reality that the party are doing, for instance free education and general accountability while they are still going in the opposite direction for you!

An impartial observer would not disagree with me. It is a sham and prob not worth commenting on.

How long do you think the free education song will last ,a year? You are offering free education at the expense of the retirees pension,I say goodluck with that. Preaching accountability is one thing practicing it is another kettle altogether, holding a few individuals accountable while the whole system reeks of it won't do the magic, looks like acting to me.What I am trying to highlight here is that, its not that simple,it wont be for JPM to succeed ,he needs to go against the system that put him in place. You cannot simply chop the hand that feeds you ,so all this Kutumbua majipu stuff is just smoke and mirrors like I said in my very first comment ni kama hadithi za maisha bora kwa kila mtanzania it will come and go and at the end of the day we'll be where we were or worse , for most African politicians wanataka madaraka wakiyapata hawajui wayafanyie nini wanaanza kukurupuka na kukukuruka ...Wake up and see things for what they real are !

That is your preamble but we mean free education for everyone. School and tuition fee is now a trillion shilling a quarter. It's unfortunate how much opposition this idea will get because so many Tanzanians have been led to believe receiving any kind of service or benefit from our government is somehow inevitable. And you are one of them!

It's not because we do like charity, it's because our government know how many people will not work for themselves and exploit the charity and sit on their butts and do nothing. I lived in a city where this is a normal thing, just look around you.

Without taxes there are no free education, there are no roads, no bridges, no water utilities, no hospitals. We need to implement a good tax system. And people should pay their fair share.

Problem is the ultra rich do everything to avoid paying their taxes. Which means they do not believe in free education, or bridges, or roads or anything than their sheer personal greed.

Remember John Magufuli is not the manager, policeman or chef. His word is the seed and its your job to dig the ground, someone else to burry the seed under, someone water it and look after it to make sure it survive and bring forth more fruits.

We are all in this together to make a change. It's not for one man alone but for all.

It is a good observation you make but look at both sides of the coin. You seem to have no problem with the lack of accountability space where this government officials have robbed their citizens.

Your straw vision and those alike is a problem of our great country. Do not sit aside and complaining, give us suggestions what are the best ways to solve the so called obstacles.

This is the start of a better Africa. It's our job now to make that change the foundation is laid.

We cannot keep complaining about everything. It's not like I don't see some wrongs this man and others do but I focus on the positive, his positive outshines the negative which is success.

A positive mind builds and a negative mind destroys, It's better to have a positive mind because you can be sure of correcting the wrongs and move on to the next level.

I am glad there are few of us who are seers of the truth.

Then comes Magufuli administration while a couple of weeks in office seems lacking ideas of how to reform the government, and has so far been generating plenty of heat but very little substance.

Very unfair to say Magufuli's administration has been generating plenty of heat but little substance! Magufuli was able to find the money to give free education when the previous governments failed to do so. Trillions of shillings in unpaid taxes were recovered for the benefit of the common man. You need to be very ungrateful if to you all this is "very little substance". that is unless you have a hidden agenda of yours.

They had been blindsided with this Fast & Furious because humans have a tendency to not change until they absolutely must.

Is there really free education when a school of over 500 students end up with monthly stipends of Tshs 500, 000/= averaging tout Tshs 1, 000/= per student per month!

A trillion recovered from tax evaders over my foot. Will you please enunciate the companies disgorged, so far because you seem to harbour news all news outlets are unaware or you are simply making up the facts!

I'm not complaining ,I am just stating facts for what they are .Its a thing good that you know the underlying problem of our country. system/the establishment that is the problem and you also know that there are problems which means it seems we see the same thing from different perspectives as some of your arguments supports some of what i mentioned meaning we are seeing the same colour in different perspectives you are seeing green and I am seeing a mix of blue and yellow the reason for my being cautious/pessimistic /sceptical you name it!

I am not an advocate of free education ,I'm not coz is it really free? If its free ,why is the government paying for it? And if its free how are we going to hold whoever is providing us with free education responsible/accountable if things go awry?
Is it sustainable over a long period ,or was it just politics..........

There is nothing I would like for us as a country to be a working nation .A nation where your hardworking, your smartworking determines the level of success of a a country whereby people believe hacking albinos will guarantee them Positions and wealth, or drug trafficking is a sure ticket for wealth,so what I'm I saying here! The problem facing our country and most African countries should be addressed in its entirety, not just a few sectors ,not just a few individuals I am talking about tackling the whole system, that way all the plagues attacking all sectors of our country will be taken care of.I am talking about the Government itself(some of the corruption involves very high Government official-take note of Muhongo & Mwakyembe sagas),the Judiciary and the Parliament so that there are clear guidelines that both the public and private sectors adhere to in executing their duties not just a few a few selected branches of the economy. That the administration creates policies and structures that guides whoever is in office ,whether we have a bad president or a good one he does the right thing.Policies and structures that creates favorable sustainable conditions in all sectors of the Country be it private or public that fosters good governance ,rule of law ,justice for all,and prosperity in the country, for us to be a country that its people pay taxes and not evade taxes , a country where those in authorities do not misuse the taxes paid by the citizens a country where everybody does what they are supposed to do . For that to happen Sir, with the approach of JPM and some of the guys you mentioned above I might say you are in love with green and you are blinded by it you dont see that is too yellow ,that a lot of blue is missing for it to be proper green

After reading some of what you wrote, I am trying to figure out what your disagreement is. You seem to be on different page. Your emotions are making the situation complicated for you to understand which in turn makes you to be negative without basic judgements. That explains a lot.

You have been surrounded by people with the same opinions as you and claiming the same biased stories reports since you heard about Magufuli in the state house.

You honestly treat this like it's a bad thing. If you have a stick up your butt so much about having to contribute money that does not necessarily go directly to you, go live on an island somewhere.

Nothing is completely free, you will pay for it one way or another. And I stated it before, it is through tax collections and labour shares.

We should increase capital gains, that's what we should do. However, taxing the business activities and other labor shares would probably include something like this.

It isn't possible If you know how wasteful government was and the fact that we currently pay for public education. Spending 12 years for every child, from kindergarten to ordinary level will not break the bank.

It is continuous and you are required to pay tax. It isn't all about free stuff, it is really about tax money handled better.

Change is a journey, it do not happen in an instant. When I listen to Magufuli I see the success of Tanzania, not that you can see today but tomorrow.

Yesterday he took the stage and spoke with elders from Dar Es Salaam.

Talks of Magufuli addressing the unjust of the government officials and fail to stop the mafisadi overtaking Tanzania, the other day he talks of Tanzanians investing their resources. May be tomorrow he will touch on your complains, everything cannot be done in one day.

At least now we have a leader and Tanzania is coming together which can only be a positive thing.
I am talking about the Government itself(some of the corruption involves very high Government official-take note of Muhongo & Mwakyembe sagas),the Judiciary and the Parliament so that there are clear guidelines that both the public and private sectors adhere to in executing their duties not just a few a few selected branches of the economy.
What problems? Did you see the evidence? No one is being burglary responsible here.

Don't share a story from restaurant's coffee on serious discussion.
President Magufuli is just a good-hearted soul trying to make this country a little bit a better place. So it's completely bizarre all the horseshit people say about him.

It just goes to show how sick we still are as a species, which is very sad but undeniably true.

He is going to clean up all the corruption and the repugs done for many many years.
For that to happen Sir, with the approach of JPM and some of the guys you mentioned above I might say you are in love with green and you are blinded by it you dont see that is too yellow ,that a lot of blue is missing for it to be proper green
I'm proud of my president. I see far because I stand on his shoulders. I shall not be bullied or made to feel inferior because of my support.

Academic thinking wont take us anywhere. The intention of any action is results. So far we are seeing results so we dont care about your idealistic thoughts. Have you ever wondered why a big percentage of rich people are not academicians? Action, action and action. Period.

We need to define what is education before braggarts take us for an educational rollercoaster
In its broad sense, education refers to any act or experience that has a formative effect on the mind, character or physical ability of an individual. Through schools, colleges, universities and other institutions deliberately transmits its accumulated knowledge, values and skills from one generation to another.
Is free tuition equivalent to free education? Just wondering aloud!
Yes! So what are you wondering about?

How can you reform an institute without touching its dim-witted and corrupted officials.??

The dim witted have been nurtured by instutions. We know them because institutions have endowed them with opportunities. Hence, getting rid of them may offer cheap popularity but does cure institutional failures that created and protected unaccounability which is behind poor leadership.

Claiming credit for services not rendered is tantamount to daylight robbery.
