Holding elections mean very little if the institutions of governance lack independence when the opposition is under siege and when votes cannot be verified.

In 2005 the then IGP Mahita raised similar anxieties against CUF that they were knives touting and the knives were freshly painted with CUF colours to drive a point home but we refused to bite that yarn and now we refuse to once more!

Where are the accused? We asked the then IGP Omary Mahita in 2005 the same question when he flashed brand new knives painted in CUF colours claiming they were plotting election related violence todate there's nothing to support such wild accusations...Now it is time to vilify Act Wazalendo in Lindi region that they are plotting violence to justify rampant abuses of human rights
