The multi-agency detectives unearthing the rot at the troubled Kenya ports authority have seized 68 more containers at unspecified container freight station in Mombasa.

The Star established that detectives arrived at the station without notifying the management and carried the raid.

One of the detectives said a new syndicate has emerged at the port as suspects engage with IT experts in the issuance of pins and passwords of old KPA staff who are still logged in the systems.

"This 'KPA thing', is very sensitive , several individuals are involved. The syndicate led to the recoveries of new 68 containers", he said.

KRA customs and border control Commissioner Julius Musyoki said the full report will be issued on Monday since officers are still conducting the raid of other containers.

"This is a multi-agency raid involving several officers, we are still tracing other containers but full report will be issued on Monday", Musyoki said.

Musyoki confirmed that some password and pins being used by other suspects.

He said the officers including those from cyber crime are yet to issue the findings.

"The matter is being investigated by detectives, we are aware of the syndicate but once they are done with their investigations then the whole matter will be put in public like the recent arrests,"general manager operations Sudi Amani said.

Earlier this Month, KRA commissioner general John Njiraini issued a statement on millions of money lost over transit cargo diversions and evading payment of taxes.

This led to the suspension of 21 companies.

Police at the same time issued a list of 29 wanted tracks which colluded in cargo transportation.

Yes we have a big corruption problem.... but you should also know there are whistleblowers everywhere in kenya, and the media or prominent people almost always get wind of these things, and so many of them get exposed... but dont delude yourself into thinking there is no cotruption in your country.... e.g in 2015 kenya was riddled with cases of cartels in the poaching business, but at the end of the year, we had lost 85 elephants while on the other hand, Tz quietly lost upwards of 7000 elrphants...... how did such a huge number disapear without anyone noticing?
