World bank ranks: Kenya second on logistics

World bank ranks: Kenya second on logistics

Unlike your ATL in that banana republic of yours where the president makes a decision about a national airline, then decides to allocate millions of dollars without presenting a clear business plan to be discussed and approved by parliament first...
Over here management of day to day decision about KQ are made by independent institution based on informed decisions and not some beaurocrat sitting in a govt Ministry... If there is enough traffic can fly from one end of the city to the other end of the same city! You can damn well use a freaking dreamliner....

Can you calculate the cost of flying embaers each carrying 90 persengers and the cost of flying two dreamliners each with +200 passengers (since there will be more than enough traffic) over the same distance..... How many rounds (and fuel)will the embraes need to go, to move all the many persengers this high season compared to two fuel efficient dreamliners...

I swear I laughed after reading your comments, so this what you call a business plan, done by business institutions. Kenyans, you need to wake up and smell kiambu coffee. You have A-Big-Fat-White-Elephant, sitting on Kenya's lap, and sad thing is, you all don't even know it. First all Embaers isn't economical type of aircraft but that's another topic, but if you use that aircraft for Nairobi Mombasa route, you'll might end up using 2.5tons of fuel. If you use Dreamliner for the same route, you might use at least 4.5 tons of fuel because you can't just fly from one end of the street to the other like you do with a bicycle. You'll need to go up at least above 19,000ft so you can plenty of time to descend into landing area while you go through pre landing procedures. If KQ was a very well thought through project, why they couldn't use the Dreamliner on any of KQ profitable long haul routes? Someone told me KQ are selling their route to other airline to keep the books clean. To me it doesn't make economical sense to use a large aircraft for a 10% profit, while you could make at least 50% profit if you go to India or China or even Russian. The white elephant is starting to revealing it's self, you all better realise that sooner rather than later.

Hehe, kweli maskini akipata matako hulia mbwata... You bought new aircraft the other day now you are all experts on anything airlines.... India has been using 19 dreamliners since January this year, and they have made more profits than any other year this decade! Its all about the scales, before any experienced airline makes a decision, they will always calculate the costs and measure the scales before making such a deliberate action......
The only potential white elephant is your very own ATL, can you tell me, have you ever seen the financial book of ATL? I have KQs last financial report with me here, I have a whole box of anual reports since 2006...... KQ is to celebrate its 40th birthday soon, it only started making losses in the last 6 years...... A potential white elephant is the one no one really knows about, yet so much money is being sunk it to it without a clear blue print, or at least going slow, testing the waters first, especially just after fastjet is scaling down after doing the same thing you are doing (mind you, they were a low coast airline)... Does anyone outside Tz even know what ATL is? You think only tanzanians will fill your planes? Nakumbuka geza akituambia hakuna mtz atapanda KQ once fastjet starts operating Nairobi routes.... Now where is he? My friend, wait at least 7 years before you start talking like you know what you are saying... KQ ilianza after the collapse of EAC, that's how old it is,time za kina Kenyatta Na nyerere! ATI white elephant, please

The Tanzanian govt is making a political investment, thats why you don't see anyone else concerened about future plans and business model of ATL, people just trust that magu will make good use of taxpayers money, But running an airline will go beyong magus term limits, so what happens then, how long do you think it will take make a return on investment? What will ATL do to win over customer who are currently flying more established legacy carriers like flyemirates, Qatar, KLM, AirChina, Ethihad when you buy the dreamliners for long haul? These airlines are all each paying like $1million dolls a day for all prime parking spots in all major international airports around the world, they have built there own customized lounges in all major airports to increase customer experience.... These are the people you have to compete with, after you have defeated all the established African airlines plying multiple daily flights to the same routes

Pamoja likitabu kuuuubwa ulicho andika, naona ntakosa vitamu nikikujibu, labda nikuulize maswali mawili tuu,

Does India make profit by using Dreamliner on short routes the likes of Nairobi Mombasa route or on the long distance ones?

With all the financial plans you might pull from the sky, kama msomali akiingia hapo Nairobi, aka cheza cheza kidogo na kale ka AK thing, will you still be on the same financial position you predicted before?

Hiyo yenu ni kama imeeingia juzi! Naona November 2016! Urefu wa 261! Bado!

Nimekwambia acha kukurupuka hiyo meli uliyoweka wewe ilishatia nanga Dar port last year na ni only 255 metres long

They have 27 dreamliners, 19 walitumia for domestic short haul routes for 12 months!

Alafu msomali Si gaidi, labda unaongelea kuhusu alshabaab.... As usual the only way mtanzania anataka kupita Mkenya, anaanxa kuomba Kenya ipatwe Na janga ndo a ipiku.... Alshabaab can attempt there worst, 10 years later, this nation will still be here standing strong, its inevitable to try defeat the Kenyan spirit

Kwa India, it makes economical sense to fly Dreamliner on domestic route. India to Singapore or Dubai is still counted as short haul flight, kutokana na ukaribu wa safari yenyewe. Kama nilivyosema mwanzoni, fingerprints za Jubilee are all over this issue. Election is around the corner, lazima wa waonyenjeshe voters who couldn't afford to book a ticket to London or Amsterdam, votes needs know who was in charge for the last five year.

So now it makes sense because its India? Where did you get the technical statistics on the dreamline 787 fuel consumption to conclude that 2 hours is ok but one hour is not?

Unajua arguments za watz wengi kuhsu Kenya Hua Mara nyingi unagundua Hua wame make conclusion based on misinformed data/source.... Now go read the article again, the dreamliner will only be used like 6 times only, on another date, then on 24th and 25th only..... Then on another three dates just after new year, they will use them on a return trip.... A fully booked airplane is a fully booked airplane, weather India has a population of 1.3 billion or Kenya has 45 million.

There is a reason why the government refused to take control of KQ management even though they are the majority shareholders, they have only one member on the board, voting rights on day to day decisions don't concern them, if jubelee wanted votes, wamaluze SGR mbio mbio,

Hivi unasomaga ninacho andika au unakurupuka kama wale wa Kenya wengine. You want to go around the corner to buy milk, instead of walking to the shop, you climb on the biggest 36 wheels semitrailer truck, manoeuvre you're way around tight bendy corners, struggle to find parking, all that just to buy yourself a pint of milk. This is what KQ is doing, one hour flight, which is as same as going to Dar, you've to fly the whole 250 seat wide body aircraft which by the way the flight path MIGHT include going to the parts of Tanzania to end up in Mombasa.
For India it makes all sense, because they have numbers to support their clam, also can afford to do so, their short haul is two to three hours away. It's astonishing you don't see this as waste of money and time, if you asked the pilots what they think of this, you'll be surprised how they roll their eyes the way KQ is wasting their time and energy. Anyway, I called it a political decision, I'm sure you've a different opinion from mine.

Actually, airlines that operate the boeing 787 dreamliner are encouraged to first fly it for short haul routes to get more landing experience before taking the long haul routes to get more experience on landing the state of the art airplane,.... Google it, its actually a thing

Haha, sasa tumenda Mombasa, India back Mombasa next stop, experiencing flight. I know airlines use short haul flights to fimilirise with the aircraft. But kwa wenye akili won't buy that, what was the main reason given to fly to Mombasa? High number of passengers. Remember that part, there were no comment about experience or a "New Thing". Look, I told you before we might have a different opinion on this issue, at the of end is KQ and Kenya's who will choose how to use their assets.

I was merely stating that fact to show you that its not uncommon for wide body long haul aircrafts to be used in shorter routes.
Anyway. How about we revisit this discussion next year a time like this when at least ATL might present us with some form of financial report on their performance on their less than 7 aircrafts then we can start from there, as of right now you don't even have any form of financial performance.... While KQ has 39 financial reports

Even though your understanding of ATC position is poor, because most of ATC aircraft haven't been delivered yet, but you'll find Tanzania is ready for any challenge especially if is coming from Kenya. Kenya have thrown everything thing to Tanzania including kitchen sink, and yet Tanzania has always bounce back like nothing had happened. ATC will be ready, so as all of us Tanzanian.

On the same token, let's make it interesting by throwing another African Airline into the ring, ..... Drumroll please........"Ethiopian Airlines". Rules of the game, balance sheet of each company. Even though ATC and Ethiopian airlines are wholly owned by respective governments, but profit is profit.
