Some Africans have attributed their poverty to various reasons ranging from colonization, government corruption, their black skins and other flimsy reasons but none of these reasons are justifable enough for many Africans to be impoverished owing to the abundant natural and human resources found in this continent.
The above pictures depict the ugly state of poverty in some African countries. I have listed out 3 major reasons why Africans are poor and some are even extremely poor..
#1. Africans are illiterates: Most Africans regrettably don't read or learn again after their higher education. Education in its real sense isn't about bagging degrees, masters and PhD. Education is about being curious and enthusiastic enough to learn, relearn and unlearn. Education starts when schooling stops. Africans believe so much in the white man school system which has keep them poor till now. The white man school system is designed to program your mindset to be an employee, look for a job and die broke. I think the time is overdue for Africans to take their destinies in their hands and start learning again about what works for Africa as a continent and what works for the African person. Let us bring back learning to our school and do away with schooling.
#2. Most Africans have a kind of dependent spirit: Africans, sorry to say are found of shifting blames and hoping that someone will come and rescue them someday. No matter how much help you get from people, there is no help greater than self help. Africans should help ourselves and start taking responsibility for their actions because as a continent, we don't deserve any foreign aid from any foreign country.
#3. Africans have unrealistic Expectations: Most Africans are living in the dream world that good things come cheap and easy. Success that would last don't come overnight, it must be worked for and earned. The reason why most Africans are leaving the continent in their millions is to get a better life which they think is easy. The truth is that it is not easy anywhere at all. You have to work for your money no matter the foreign country you are traveling to. Money aren't found on the streets of America or London, so Africans should wake up from their easy gratification mindset and work smartly to drive away poverty from this great continent.
