Good Afternoon Sir Thege,

The are meant for internet access.

1. The are Internet companies that offer broadband Internet access via satellite but the package are slightly expense but super fast speeds.

A good example is Yahclick offered on Yahsat 1B satellite by SimbaNET.

YahClick is beamed through the Y1B Satellite, which is the first satellite in the region to offer Internet connectivity through Ka-band multi-spot beams, with reusable frequencies to maximize spectrum efficiency. The multi spot-beam technology means greater efficiency on the ground. YahClick has appointed leading service partners who understand the unique requirements of each country, bringing fast and efficient communications to many regions where the demand for reliable Internet is growing.

2. The data on satellite is also used in SKS (Satellite Key Sharing) via dongle connected to satellite receivers to decrypt pay tv channels.

This is how it works>>>

1. The Chinese company subscribes for an Internet via satellite service normally on W3 or W6 satellite.

2. They receive the "internet pack" that includes a Satellite Internet card. Here the easy part pauses. Let's see what happens on Server side from point 3.

3. On their offices they have a dedicated card server a little different from Internet sharing.
This server is made by a lot of official Smartcards and a lot of Set Top Boxes
Each STB is tuning a specific Transponder which they have the Smartcard to descramble

4. Each STB is receiving ALL the ECMs for the TP where it tuning

5. The STB sends the ECM to the Smartcard and the smartcard return the CW for each ECM on the transponder6. They extend this STB/Smartcard/TP solution to every TP on the satellite they want to share

7. At this point on time they have a real time list of Control Words that will expire in 4 to 30 seconds depending on the Encryption system.

8. Back from point 2 they activate the Internet via Satellite service and they request to a remote server located in the word a certain web page where … what a magic … the Control Words on point 7 are always refreshed

9. In theory a the Chinese user is receiving through is Satellite Internet Card an updated list of the CW real time with a little latency of 2/3 seconds. This "web page" containing the list of CW is filtered using the MAC address of the Satellite Internet Card otherwise all users using this Satellite ISP should receive the same contents broadcasted down the satellite.

10. Now let's pretend that we have a Satellite Internet Card with the same MAC address of this Chinese people?!@?! What would happen?

11. Simple you receive the same Web Page they are requesting…

12. Now comes the funny part… The Satellite Dongle.

13. The satellite dongle operates exactly like an Satellite Internet Card because it is a Satellite receiver and it filters exactly the same packets as the subscribers card (by filtering the correct PID and MAC Address)

14. This Satellite Dongle now is receiving the the CW almost in real time from the Satellite ISP (W3 or W6)

15. The Satellite Dongle is now connected to a cheap receiver via RS-232 port.

16. The STB using a dedicated protocol called Twin Protocol is asking to the Satellite Dongle to provide the CW for the channel that the user is watching in that moment.

17. The smart Satellite Dongle returns to the receiver the Control Word…

18. Game Over

This is the simple but working principle on which the Satellite Dongles are based on.

3. You can access the data feeds on satellite using a digital satellite tv card plus SkyGrabber software.

What's SkyGrabber:

SkyGrabber is offline satellite internet downloader.

It accepts free to air (FTA) satellite data (movie, music, pictures) by digital satellite TV tuner card (DVB-S/DVB-S2) and saves information onto a hard disk.

SkyGrabber is a software that intercepts satellite data and downloads it.
It was used by Iraqi insurgents from the group Kata'ib Hezbollah to intercept MQ-1 Predator drone video feeds.
Iraqi insurgents tapped into the video feeds, which are not encrypted, using the Russian software named SkyGrabber.

This software can deal with all of your annoying problems, for it has many advantages, I'm afraid you'll fall in love with it.

SkyGrabber is a hobby for person who accepting free to air satellite data by
digital satellite TV tuner card (DVB-S/DVB-S2) from satellite provider.

You don't have to keep an online internet connection.

Just customize your digital satellite TV tuner card (DVB-S/DVB-S2) to satellite provider and start accepting free to air data.

What You Need>>

One Computer
One Satellite Dish
One Digital Satellite tv tuner card
SkyGrabber software

How it all works>>>

There are different types of Internet connection, such as Dial-Up, ADSL, Leased Line, etc. Satellite internet is a kind of Internet connection and is used mainly in remote areas or in areas where Internet access is problematic because of its lack, or slow speed of the high cost of local Internet connections.
Connecting to the Internet through various geostationary satellites, which are located at an altitude of 35,786 km above the equator and turn around the planet with angular rate equal to the angular velocity of rotation of the Earth around the axis, so every geostationary satellite is in heaven, and one point will not move.
So each satellite is to a certain point of the sky, but everywhere there can be a signal from him? The signal from the satellite was adopted only in the territory, which covers its transmitter. This is called the area a zone coverage. There may be several satellite transmitters.
So you can imagine what territory can extend the signal, look at the pattern of coverage of one of the satellites. White lines here shows the area where the signal can take. Near the white lines shows the level of the signal. The signal is expressed in dBW. The higher the value dBW the smaller diameter antenna required for the normal receiving of a signal. For example, the signal 48 dBW excellent receiving antenna diameter of 60 centimeters.
Now that you better acquainted with the basics, let's consider the technical details of organizing satellite Internet. There are 2 variants of the Internet:

2 way satellite Internet
In a symmetric satellite internet all Internet traffic, as the incoming and outgoing transmits through the satellite.

1 way satellite Internet
In asymmetric satellite Internet queries are transmitted by ground connections, and the responses to requests come from the satellite.

How does SkyGrabber work?
As we have already been identified, responses to the requests come from the satellite. The satellite transmits data all users in one stream. The data are accepted by all who are in the satellite coverage area. In fact, you can set up your satellite dish on this satellite and we'll receive the data, which is produced by other users.
But you say, well, well, we get the data, but how do we get the files that other users are downloading? The SkyGrabber can do it. The program intercepts data of other users, assemble in files and saves files in your hard drive. SkyGrabber makes your life more exciting and interesting.

SkyGrabber features:
Filtering information by the types of files ( mp3, avi, mpg ? ?.?. )
Filtering information by IP, MAC addresses
Simultaneous work on the Internet and grabbing
The monitoring system resources
Showing progress downloads
Support Kazza, Gnutella
Handling TCP, GPE, IP, MPE packages
Handling HTTP responses (200, 206)
Support dreamboxes

Supported satellite equipments:
If you do not newbie in satellite community, you probably know a great program for viewing satellite TV. It's a ProgDVB. The program is one of the most popular programs for viewing satellite TV.
ProgDVB supports almost all satellite equipments. In agreement with the author ProgDVB, ProgDVB Engine added in SkyGrabber. This is an engine which allows to use all satellite equipment that supports ProgDVB. Also SkyGrabber can work with StreamReaders, and thus supports more equipments.
The SkyGrabber uses own media engine that supports the following manufacturers of digital satellite TV tuner cards:

  • DVBWorld
  • TBS/QBOX
  • Azureware
  • TechniSat
  • TechnoTrend
  • Genitech
  • TeVii

Thumbs up.

Hi guys. I have two dishes 2.4m and 90 cm.I use 2.4m to revieve paksat 1R,and for the 90 cm I use it to receive sirus 4 and multi packages. I want to acquire another 2.4m to track Kenyan channels which have become more difficult to track.I want to nab paksat and others sats around there. What are the other sats that i can receive around both C band and KU and their tracking frequencies? Nice time palz and lets explore this world of FTA. kudos

Hi Munyaga, I am about to update the firmware on my SRT 4922 as well, so interested in your experiences. Just a word of advice if I may, make sure you save a backup of the existing firmware on a USB stick or USB hard-drive, before flashing the new firmware!

Hi to you Northumberland, I had already patched my box by the time I came across your invaluable advice hoping it won't bring issues in the future. By the way how would I have extracted a copy of the factory fed firmware? And mine shows that the Biss Key Table can be accessed through code 8280 contrary to 8289 that our bro Kungu1 had posted earlier, may be it was a typo.....:coffee:

Interesting site on the web you may want to bookmark ..especially if you want to catch up on your FTA addiction while away from your setup..there are many channels to pic from and as a lover of MBC 2 , am not disappointed as it is available on FilmOn | WEB TV | LIVE TELEVISION FILM VIDEO ON DEMAND SOCIAL FILMON . visit the site and check it out, you can log in with fb,G+ or register outright.. the beauty is that you can watch some FTA channels which based on our location, it is not possible otherwise. Am talking about American based programming, european channels etc.. there is an android app to watch on your tab as well. Is this good or great ?:majani7:

Hi brother Kung 1,thanx for da update.how do i get Superbox spark s750,plus price please elaborate.

Hi members,is the Nigerian mux available on intelsat 904 at 60e I want to track them and what about Ugandan and Zambian channels on the same location.I know a lot of members are complaining of difficult getting the Kenyan mux but i want to try my luck.

hello kungu and the rest ,I am in Dar es salaam and have been hunting NILESAT, with very little success, I managed to get oly dubai one transponder 11784 v 27500. The BBC tp 11766 v 27500 will somehow lock but with very weak quality, My goal is to lock on 11977 v27500 cnn Tp, Tools I'm using includes 120cm ku dish , 0.1 db high gain fuji lnb , and arisat 600 hd receiver , .In your post you mentioned 120cm ku dish samson twin, strong str 4922. could those be the only tools for tracking nilesat ? i have just ordered strong 4922 but what is so special with samson lnb and why twin?,

Hi tblj. I have recently been trying to get good Nilesat reception in Nairobi, and reading Kungu's advice on LNBs etc. It might be useful for me to share my experience with you. I had 'fair' reception of BBC World News (52% quality on an SR 4922) with an Inverto Black Premium LNB. After Kungu's experiment a few days ago, I went out and bought an Inverto Black Ultra single LNB, and the same shop also had a very fancy looking Fuji Gold Ku LNB, described on box as best in world for low noise, weak signals, etc. It was also the most expensive in that shop!. Neither of these two new LNBs performed as well as my Inverto Black Premium twin. The inverto ultra was a bit worse, but the expensive Fuji gold thingy, with an external waveguide, was MUCH worse, in fact I could not get a lock on BBC World with this LNB at all. In conclusion, I have no personal experience with the Samson LNB (and apparently not available in Nairobi at moment), but I can confirm that getting the RIGHT LNB will make all the difference to getting Nilesat channels on a 120 cm dish in East Africa, and my experience suggests that Fuji LNBs are not the right ones!

Hi again Munyaga, Make sure your USB mass storage device is plugged into the front USB socket, then go to MAIN MENU, select External Advice, then select File Manager. You scroll through the tabs at the top of the screen using the 'Group' key on the remote, until you get to the tab labelled s/w DATA. Then press the 'info' (i) key on remote - "upload file", a pop out box now gives you two choices, the choice in black text on a white background is the one that will be selected when you press OK. The choices are Upload CH list and Upload STB. If you select the first, you upload to your USB a file which contains all of the channels that you already have stored, including all favourites etc, this might be very useful, since you can put a lot of time and effort into organising 800 channels! - If you select Upload STB, you will save a copy of your current firmware on your USB device. To re-install either the channel list, or the firmware, simply select those files (in the root directory of the USB) and click on OK, it will ask you '[are you sure}, ok again, and you should be able to reload the files.

  • Genitech
  • TeVii
  • GotView

Wow! Thank you Professor Kungu. You are more than a professor because you simplify even the seemingly impossible.

2. They receive the “internet pack” that includes a Satellite Internet card. Here the easy part pauses. Let’s see what happens on Server side from point 3.

This “web page” containing the list of CW is filtered using the MAC address of the Satellite Internet Card otherwise all users using this Satellite ISP should receive the same contents broadcasted down the satellite.

10. Now let’s pretend that we have a Satellite Internet Card with the same MAC address of this Chinese people?!@?!

16. The STB using a dedicated protocol called Twin Protocol is asking to the Satellite Dongle to provide the CW for the channel that the user is watching in that moment.

i beg you my friend go for 40 inch and above. the bigger the screen the better the hd picture. the best brand name in the market currently is sumsung. also look for a model with multiple hdmi ports so that you can plug in all your decoders. don't even bother looking at bravias.
