African Satellite World and Sat Gear

i beg you my friend go for 40 inch and above. the bigger the screen the better the hd picture. the best brand name in the market currently is sumsung. also look for a model with multiple hdmi ports so that you can plug in all your decoders. don't even bother looking at bravias.

thanx for ur advice bro.
are the bravias that bad?

On my part, bravias are up there with the best, with a certain klv-24EX430, I have Been enjoying kul HD pictures, mind u on a 24" screen having 2 HDMI ports and 1080p plus MHL. The 40" version of it, I guess would be too good. Just my opinion.

The Nilesat 201 official footprint should be attached here. In the south-east corner, the contours are cut off by the map frame, but coverage seems designed to go further south down Indian Ocean, perhaps to give coverage to Comoro Islands, this might be of importance to getting signal in Dar.

Correction - no, footprint does not cover Comoro Islands, I found another footprint map that shows the coverage ending over the Indian Ocean before the Kenya/Tanz border - wonder why Nilesat did that?

Anyone noticed something strange and exiting on orange internet. well i subscribe to the daily unlimited 50 bob bundles but since last Wednesday i haven't topped up. am still on unlimited internet although the speeds are painfully slow. This is the second time its happened to me. Last time it went on for two weeks. wameacha gate wazi kimpango ama kuna mtu analala kazini?

Interesting site on the web you may want to bookmark ..especially if you want to catch up on your FTA addiction while away from your setup..there are many channels to pic from and as a lover of MBC 2 , am not disappointed as it is available on FilmOn | WEB TV | LIVE TELEVISION FILM VIDEO ON DEMAND SOCIAL FILMON . visit the site and check it out, you can log in with fb,G+ or register outright.. the beauty is that you can watch some FTA channels which based on our location, it is not possible otherwise. Am talking about American based programming, european channels etc.. there is an android app to watch on your tab as well. Is this good or great ?:majani7:

Thank you kassych. Also add http://www.etfarag.com/Programs/ProgramListing.aspx which is more like an online electronic program guide.

good evening all

am in town hunting for nice LCD or LED 32 inch tv to expound my viewing experience.
am spoilt for choice coz there are many brands out there. any input, advice will be appreciated.

Before stepping out, do a simple cursory research online just like I did. You'll find that currently, Samsung and LG are the leading manufacturers and have the best quality. You'll learn a lot from this site: LCD & LED TV Reviews: Read reviews of the latest LCD & LED Televisions and HDTVs 2013

What I'd personally found was that though LG & Samsung were the best, there were lots more complains about lg especially about dead pixels on the larger lcd screens of 37" and above. I decided to avoid LED again for the same reasons as well as the fact that most are exorbitantly priced. I did eventually settle on a 46" samsung lcd and I can assure you this thing is impressive!!

Hi Sir Thege, actually the only nice thing about the said Sony is that it's full HD otherwise it's poor in all the other aspects. The feature to look for when acquiring a Tv is the Audio and Video codecs it supports and as said, it should be in full HD and depending on the budget one can think of a 3D set with possibly 2D to 3D coversion and the ability to switch betwen the 2. LG and Samsung lead on the widest variety of a/v codecs supported. Again, the smaller a full HD screen is the clearer the image will seem rather than the other way round. And finally though pricier, LED ones have better/deeper blacks and last longer than LCDs. Thanks all.

@ Jeyjey,Samsung led has great picture quality. I had a samsung led hd ready and bravia led full hd but the samsung hd ready picture was great than sony full hd

Hi all, I wanted to purchase an additional higher capacity hard disc to use with my 4922. Now the question is; can a USB 3 one be compatible/work well with the receiver which is USB 2?

Your contribution/advice will highly be appreciated. Thanks.

The Smartmeter S1 NIT
satellite meter with built in TV. Lightweight!
Now Smart Electronic in Germany have introduced a new exciting
satellite meter. An "NIT" meter does not use the transponder frequencies transmitted from a satellite (which can go
out of date) to identify (ID) the satellite. An NIT meter uses the network ID on a satellite to identify a satellite. It is
highly unlikely the network ID would ever change. With meters that are not NIT, the manufacturer looks for a frequency
that is (hopefully) unique to that satellite. Sometimes there is no unique frequency and the meter suffers from
"cross ID" (sees the satellite in two or more places and only one place is correct). If there is a unique frequency,
it may change in the future, if that happens the satellite can no longer be found without a software upgrade or
manual input of new data (if a keyboard is built into the meter). There are less problems with an NIT meter as
it does not rely on volatile frequencies. Usually NIT meters are quite expensive but this one is very very reasonably

This is one of the best meters in the market .

Hi again Munyaga, Make sure your USB mass storage device is plugged into the front USB socket, then go to MAIN MENU, select External Advice, then select File Manager. You scroll through the tabs at the top of the screen using the 'Group' key on the remote, until you get to the tab labelled s/w DATA. Then press the 'info' (i) key on remote - "upload file", a pop out box now gives you two choices, the choice in black text on a white background is the one that will be selected when you press OK. The choices are Upload CH list and Upload STB. If you select the first, you upload to your USB a file which contains all of the channels that you already have stored, including all favourites etc, this might be very useful, since you can put a lot of time and effort into organising 800 channels! - If you select Upload STB, you will save a copy of your current firmware on your USB device. To re-install either the channel list, or the firmware, simply select those files (in the root directory of the USB) and click on OK, it will ask you '[are you sure}, ok again, and you should be able to reload the files.

Hi Northumberland and thanks for that information. I'll search around and preserve a copy just in case....blessed day and thanks again.

thanks ranksat ,permie, and other members for valuable input. now i know what to look for.

People who mainly enjoy the english FTA channels on Nilesat 201 might like a copy of the channel line-up pages I made for myself, attached. Not all the channels transmitting in English of course, but the major ones, with the corresponding transponder frequencies.
