Hello Ndusa. As can be seen on the aside image (being a capture of Nilesat 201 beam coverage area as seen on SatBeams - Satellite Coverage Maps - Sat Footprint Intelsat 10-02 (Intelsat 1002, Intelsat Alpha-2, Intelsat X-02, IS-1002) / Thor 5 (Thor 2R) / Thor 6 (IS-1W)), Nyeri is slightly outside the coverage area, just as Nairobi, Meru, Embu, Nakuru, Eldore, etc are. However, since we have members in these very towns receiving CNN (Nilesat 201, 11977v27500), it is my humble submission that the same is receivable in Nyeri. I mean, we have members in Nbi which is further away than Nyeri receiving it. Just ensure you have a good quality LNB and you're good to go. All the best sir.

ndusa i did install one in nyeri at around nyeri tech last year using 90cm dish and i did get cnn,city 7,france 24,mtv. note to my view the said channels need some adjusting by moving the dish slightly down once u lock on 201

Hi, in Bungoma you should be getting this sat very easily. We in Eldoret are receiving it with relative ease. You need a good lnb like Fuji or the much praised Samson if at you can get it. Get assistance from your door neighbour Chief Soita or Wakilongo when he is around over the weekends.

I guess my Eurostar 0.5db is not good enough.

after 3 hours of moving the dish around i finally figure out the tp i'm using is on the south african beam.

meanwhile according to Digital Satellite Receiving Systems & Consumer Electronics Products there's supposedly a Nairobi showroom, probably those in nai can confirm.
Their downloadable product catalogue features a 150 offset and a 420 cm solid prime.

Hi Mwangi, The Nairobi address on the website is pasted below. I phoned that number, but it is not in service! I emailed Eurostar in Dubai, via that same website, and asked how I could get stuff in Kenya and whether they had a Kenya agent. After a couple of days, i got a reply asking me a lot more questions, and presumably thinking I was a potential dealer wanting to buy in bulk, so I am not optimistic that the Nairobi agent really exists. I suppose somebody could wander across to Bellair Appartments, Ngara, and see if there is anybody home, I doubt it. (It is truly amazing how businesses, including quite big ones, never bother to update or check their websites, or share working phone numbers - treating us mere mortals that look at their sites with complete contempt!) Mtuko, the answer to your question depends on how good you are at languages! I locked onto that Sat, Eutelsat 7E yesterday evening for fun, using a 1.8 m prime focus and a prime focus LNB (Fuji Stargold, bought in Nairobi - by mistake!). On the Africa beam there are several french channels, and a couple of Portuguese channels from Angola. The Mauritius channels are interesting, not sure how entertaining, they come up on your decoder as Rodriques 1a and Rodrigues 1b. Mauritius itself, main island, is quite small, they dont need Satellite direct transmission to homes, one FM transmitter on a hill will cover the entire island, But the tiny Island of Rodriques is way out in the ocean, and the Government presumably decided it was worth investing in a satellite link to relay the state broadcasting channel, MBC 1 and 2, to the small island population - and the rest of us in East Africa can tap in to this. Mauritius is bi-lingual, english and french, reflected in their TV channels - interesting to take a look. 2 years ago I had a dish (this time a 1.3m offset) on this same satellite, and I remember that it was possible then to get a weak signal from one of the other two sets of transponders, I think 'Europe B', BBC Persian etc, I was surprised.

Tried eutelsat 7w in Eldama Ravine and the results were better than éldoret using discovery 0.1db Cnn tp came upto 79 percent signal and when I use 0.5 db eurostar lnb I get signal upto 53 percent on 90 cm offset dish

i have a 90cm ofset what are the tp?i thought this sat was the one used by gtv but smone told me they have x movies

Hi guys was trying to set Astra 4A when I pumped to Arabsat Badr with about 90 channels both Arabic,Find TV,TV 2 Africa with Islamic Faith,Aljazira package all this are in KU band.Im in Kapenguria and receiving it with 90cm dish with normal lnb with more test channels. oh also FX for movies GMA PINOY FOR series. enjoy fta

This paints a better picture of Badr 5 fringe reception in Kenya.

90 cm offset, Badr 5 reception in Kapenguria

On the same orbital position 26.0°E, the is also Badr 4 & Badr 6.

In Limuru i get both Badr 5 & 6 on a 2.4 meter offset dish with a total of about 210 tv channels.

This morning i dusted my dreambox 500s as i wanted to stream content to my comp so as not to miss the days live events. The channel that i wanted is citizen on IS 902 tp 3837 L 2466. when i scanned the sat with astrovox 9000hd citizen came up on 3085 h 3099. i then hooked up the DM chose the appropriate sat and put in the correct tp and did a scan. The dm failed to get any cband channel. the message on the dm was "failed to lock onto a valid tp". After cracking my head for some time and failing to get a solution i called a dreambox expert whose solution to the problem amazed and astonished me.
He advised me to use the astrovox to scan 902 cband with a ku satellite and see what will come up, i did as directed and was suprised to see citizen coming up with a ku frequency 11015 h 3099. he then told me to use the ku frequency on the dm and lahaula, i got citizen on the dm and finally to my comp using a tp link router, Enigma web interface-PLI and vlc media player.
The name of the dm expert is good old GKogollah.
let me use this forum to say thank him once again for his valuable information.

Men, if you can pin badr 4 with a 90cm offset dish in KENYA,could it be possible in Dar es salaam Tz? Or yet which sats can i nob with my 90cm offset dish which 've interesting channels,FTA precisely. Interesting channels like for movies,series and sports. Else lets say with my 1.6m prime focus dish can i nail MBC's? In Dar-es salaam. You guys are smart,please help. Thanks.

the x movies channel on this sat was known as psat. it disappeared a long time ago. used to open it with the hawk dongle.
7e is among the easiest sats to hunt. i use it as a reference point when am going west. MBC Rodrigues show all FA cup matches and the occasional EPL match. one game every weekend.
