African Satellite World and Sat Gear

Last weekend, the caretaker of the apartments where I reside found me replacing a DiseQc switch and told me a group of 10 men who identified themselves as dee see eye & see AK officers forced their way to the rooftop that's always locked when someone was coming down from the same place. As the caretaker narrated, they claimed that they're aware that someone is transmitting TV stations from there and they're there to investigate. As is the norm, most people translate all dishes to be receptors for dsthieves, so they were told mine are for the same purpose with the emphasis that I do not share (sambaza) to anyone.

On the same line of thought as those officers, how much does transciever LNBs if that's what they're called cost?

Hao ni wezi tu. They'd have come back or told you to report to the nearest police station .. or the caretaker is just plain lying.

The DCs don't walk around in groups of ten.

After all a six foot on a roof is very common sight even in CBD.

Sasa wakiona Vicwa na zake 8ft moja na 6ft mbili on top of a 7storey building si watafaint?

Transciever LNBs are used for internet reception. They cost hundreds of dollars. Upwards of 300. They are not illegal

Broadcasting tv or even radio signals to a significant distance (Wirelessly) need very complex power hungry equipment ; receiver antennas, demodulators and huuge transmitter aerial. You cannot host such equipment in a residential flat and CAK knows it.

The best people can do is transmit signals by from a pay decorder by wire to the next block. And that in itself is a very tedious loss making enterprise.

Kwanza when he mentioned CAK I doubted coz I know if it were them they would know the difference.

Noted, thank you.

That's a trade that thrives in many slum areas. Sambaza.

Hello everyone. Hope y'all doing well with fuel price hikes and other ABCs that concern our economy.
I had a major downfall in my satworld experience early this month,a lighting struck my setup leaving behind 6 fried Lnbs, a dead Disecq switch and Sat receiver(SR90K). I had no option but go back to my old Hellobox v5 , it's less than a month and I seem to be missing alot. kama kuna forum member ambaye ana used Starsat au any other STB with 4rever IKS hata kama iko expired (Preferebly around Dar es salaam), kindly offer me your quote here or lets negotiate inbox.

Pole mkuu..same thing happened to me. My Tv has stopped working after a lightning strike.

The lightning hit the dish then passed through coaxial cables that lead to the inbuilt receiver of my smart tv. I experienced irreparable damage after that storm. I think all if not, the inside components are damaged.

It destroyed Lnb,cable and tv. Now I have to buy new receiver,tv and cable.

Thanks buddy, pole pia. After I decided to go for another STB I gave away the dead one to the electronics guy and he discovered that it was the power supply circuit that was dead. He replaced it with another from old Mediacom sat receiver and it worked. He called me to help setting it up but I couldn't, the issue now is when the tuners (1 & 2) are connected to LNB signal strength keeps blinking from 0 to 91% back-n-forth like an indicator and no signal quality. My assumptions are :-
1. The tuner(s) are compromised/dead because the lighting had its way there to the inner electronics from outside (But unexpectedly the motherboard survived and the power supply suffered instead[emoji848][emoji848][emoji848][emoji848])
2. The improvised power supply system doesn't offer the right voltage to the unit ( because it is not rated and it is an outdated MPEG2 receiver, the factory one is rated 12V 1.5A)
We had no 12V 1.5A adapter to test this evening, when found that will give us the answer unless there is a point I am missing, you guys can help.

Thanks mkuu, I just read somewhere in a sat forum that there are lighting protection devices (lightning protector, lightning arrester) mounted on coax. I'm still learning, but I'll surely need it before the next rain season

Hi there forum. The second assumption was correct, the installed power supply system could'nt offer the correct Current to power the STB mainboard and LNB electronics. Tested a 12V 1.5A adapter from GT media sat finder and it worked. I just gave it away and I can't hold back[emoji24][emoji24][emoji86][emoji86][emoji86]

That's the problem of giving up without trying to maximum. But utabarikiwa kwa kutoa [emoji16][emoji16][emoji16]

Biscuits in plenty. Remember it needs Dvb S2 S2x T2MI decoder.
Examples
Hellobox 8
Hellobox 6
Starsat 2200
Starsat 7060
Starsat x2
Mediastar Ms-mini 2727
Mediastar ms4030
Amongst others.

Around 40 channels.
Run a SigNET DTT test a while back on Amos 17 @17°E C-Band. Main objective was to test the MultiStream capabilities [if any] in GSKy v.6HD

Satellite gear included 130cm offset antenna & KU/ C-Band scaler ring, SuperMax vh-111 Super LNBf. For some strange reason dielectric plate didn't pop up any signal. On the other hand a 4mm "unfrosted/ clear glass" biscuit increased the signal by about 7%.

Surprisingly tp. 3833h/ 01000 came up with 12TV & 12 Radio channels. However this tp. is NOT a MultiStream signal. My old RedLine ts3000HD [2013] was also able to pick up the broadcast channels.

Hooked up a cheap low budget mini STB, StarTRACK srt6500HD GOLD [h.264HEVc/ MultiStream t2-Mi] & the receiver was able to hit green on tp. 3833h/ 16075 and lock on 31TV & 15 Radio channels.

However, both GSky v.6HD & Redline ts3000HD were unable to lock on tp. 3833h/ 16075 [MultiStream/ t2-Mi].
