African Satellite World and Sat Gear

Munyaga, yesterday while shopping around at Luthuli avenue, came across the Single Inverto Black Ultra for KSh.1500 and the Quad Inverto Black Ultra for KSh.4800. The Twin type was out of stock. Goes for 3K or more. Check at "Digital Life" shop.

I have a new Quad Inverto black ultra and can give away for 4k

Can someone tell me more about Abudhabi TV (commonly called Abudhabi Sports) and its availability and cost + requirement for installation here in Tanzania?

Hi, ADTV Channels are all transmitted over Nilesat 201 at 7 degs West. You can receive most Nilesat 201 transponders with sufficient quality in Nairobi with a 1.3 m offset dish and a very good LNB. Look at earlier posts on this forum related to receiving Nilesat 201 in Tanzania, it will obviously be easier, more like Nairobi, if you are in Arusha, and harder if you are in Mtwara!

Some of the ADTV Channels are Free to Air, you will not need a smartcard and you can receive them with any of the latest (DVBS2 - MPEG4) Sat receivers readily available, at least in Nairobi for around 7,000 Kenya Shs. These channels include AD Sports 1, AD SPorts 2 and AD Sports 8 - all in HD. Other channels which are 'packaged' together as part of the AD bouquet include AD Sports 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 (some of those channels have commentary mainly in English language, others in Arabic) , AD Sky News HD - (the UK and International News Channel), AD Nat Geo Adventures HD, AD Nat Geo World HD and the MBC mainly english language channels also in HD, MBC Action HD, MBC Max HD, MBC2 HD, plus some Arabic language channels. These other HD channels are all encrypted, although you can receive the MBC channels in standard definition 'free to air' (for a Free to Air channel line up of channels mainly in English Language available on Nilesat 201 and Eutelsat 7 W A see an earlier post on this forum from me). You can receive the encrypted ADTV channels in Nairobi at least perfectly well if you have an AD Sports viewing card and decoder. Note, the viewing card and decoder are 'married', you must register both the viewing card number and decoder number to get activation.

AD Sports/AD TV (partly owned by the Government of Abu Dhabi) has obtained the 'rights' to transmit and distribute its channels in a long list of Arabic speaking countries in North Africa and the Middle East. The southernmost country is Sudan, South Sudan is mentioned in some of the ADTV websites, not in others. In these countries, there are agents selling decoders and viewing cards, and in some of these countries, eg Dubai and Abu Dhabi, you can pick up a decoder (Humax) with an AD Sports viewing card for a few hundred dollars, take it home, install it, and activate it online. But I think in order to get the card activated, you will have to provide a phone number registered in one of the supported countries. There are however companies in at least one of the countries that will happily ship the decoder and viewing card to East Africa and arrange activation for you. Of course, they will charge you more than you would pay if you purchased the kit in a supermarket in Dubai - we are talking somewhere about US$ 500 for the decoder and smartcard, and around $200 a year for renewal of subscription after first year.

I bought an Inverto Black Ultra Quad from the same place, believing that a Quad would give me a stronger signal than a single, even if I only used one of the four connections. I was wrong! - very dissapointed, the quad did NOT perform any better than the single Inverto Black LNB that I already had.

Having had good results with a StarLife HD single LNB, available at a relatively low price in many of the stores on Luthuli Avenue, Nairobi, I also tried out a Starlife HD double LNB, again thinking a double might give a beter signal than a single. Again I was wrong, the Starlife HD double performed poorly, worse than the single. I have gone back to using a 5 year old Sharp single LNB that was bought in the UK, it significantly out-performs all of the LNBs available in the Nairobi shops that I have been able to try!.

Tanzanian brothers, anyone know where I can buy a feedhorn for C band LNBF for use on offset dishes in Dar es salaam? also where I can buy inveto LNBs? Thanks.

looking for a place to buy a 180cm x 150cm segmented offset dish? The good news is that they(eurostar) are readily available for sell. Their mophology resembles those of 6ft prime focus dishes only that they have 4 segments. The stock is limited.
