Bank of Tanzania has a RESERVE of $5 Billion.

Bank of Tanzania has a RESERVE of $5 Billion.

Before or After EuroBond 2? $1.6B Was Debited to the consolidated a/c Just Last week
Tanzania has 5B$, Kenya has 8.6B.
Tanzania can import for 6 months while Kenya can do the same for 5.7 months.
They need to keep 6 months of imports in their central Banks (at least) for a Monetary Union to function.
It's not how much, but how long.

Give us that evidence from the Kenyan side

Sorry, that was by June, 2017 which was the latest KBC bANKING SECTOR PUBLICATION. However by end of October, 2017 the reserves dwindled to 7.2B$ which is enough to cover 4.8 months of imports.
"The CBK level of usable foreign exchange reserves stood at USD 7.2 billion (4.8 months of import cover) at the end of October 2017 compared with USD8.3 billion (5.5 months of import cover) at the end of April 2017. These reserves, together with the Precautionary Arrangements with the IMF, equivalent to USD1.5 billion, continued to provide an adequate buffer against short term shocks in the foreign exchange market." - 19th Bi -annual Report of The MPC.

True, Determined by monthly import bill. Not sure how they treat the Eurobond Proceedes now sitting on the cosolidated A/C , but since these funds are to be used in repaying some pending loans that are maturing soon, they must have been used to calculate the figure of Reserve

So its 7.2 vs 5.9

Tumpe 20 years.

Foreign reserve of central bank should also be looked in conjunction with the currency exchange rate history.

If your currency has been continuously going down and then you boast of a rising reserve then your central bank chief has not been doing his job
