Charlotte Nelson Williams, age 79 of San Antonio, died Thursday, April 12, 2007. Charlotte Shorty was a devoted wife, mother, and friend.

She was a long time member of the former Woodlawn Methodist Church. She was in the first group of Blue Birds to volunteer at the Methodist Hospital and committed her time for over thirty years. She enjoyed playing bridge and bowling with her friends.

Mrs. Williams attended Jefferson High School, Stephens College and the University of Texas. She met Blake Williams, Jr. in the 5th grade at Woodlawn Elementary School, and later married Blake on August 27, 1948. After raising her family, she enjoyed traveling and spending time at their ranch in South Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dell and A.B. Nelson.

She is survived by her best friend and husband of 58 years, Blake Williams, Jr.; her daughters, Jane Steves and husband Marshall Steves, Jr., Janet Putman and husband Vick Putman; son, Dean Williams and wife, Nancy all of San Antonio; grandchildren, Lissa Allen and husband Paul, Marshall Steves, III and wife, Meredith, and Regan and Hannah Williams.

The family extends their gratitude to caregivers Manuela Contreras and Sharon Falta for their kindness and support.
