Bookworms of JF, what's your favorite book (s) and why?

Walau tokea mwaka jana nimeanza utaratibu huu.

Nilipokuwa chuo kikuu nilikua nasoma sana Motivational Books, kama Alchemist, the monk who sold his ferreari, The ruchest man in babylon, think big n.k.

Paula, how do you see Kiyosaki Concepts?
I have read a lot of his rich dad series.
I don't buy into all of his idea, but concepts like ;
Anything you have to pay for (e.g car, house etc) is a liability.
Buy low, sell high.
Don't trade your time for money.
Make the money work for you.
The concept is very common and sound advice. His book it's worth reading, but people get fooled by it.

I have read both Angel and demons and The Da Vinci Code. The writing is not simple but contents were very easy to get through. Personally I find his books very entertaining and full of joy.

To me he's not the greatest author, he writes like a teenager who just discovered poetry not to mention similarity of his stories (kind of the same story with a different name).Although I don't hate him, his books are just pure entertainment.

I enjoy reading Brown too. The Da Vinci Code is truly a fascinating story though the idea of the beloved disciple being a female is quite preposterous making the climax far from believable.

Another fascinating fiction author is Thomas Harris( The Red Dragon, The Silence of The Lambs, Hannible etc.

I lost my mom 3yrs ago, it was pretty shattering and numbing. My friend recommended this book to me, "The Reptile Room" by Lemony Snicket. This is children's series of unfortunate event but I read them as an adult and helped me a ton.
At first I didn't want to accept that my mom is gone even after her funeral, but this quote helped me out to accept the reality,

"It is a curious thing, the death of a loved one. We all know that our time in this world is limited, and that eventually all of us will end up underneath some sheet, never to wake up. And yet it is always a surprise when it happens to someone we know."

This quote from the book also helped me when I thought I'd never be happy without her by my side and how to cope without her.

"I think we'll always miss our parents. But I think we can miss them without being miserable all the time. After all, they wouldn't want us to be miserable."

Since then, I hate to express my sadness, I would rather smile and show that everything is okay even if I feel depressed. I don't want my mom to worry about me because I know all she wants is for me to be happy.

This book has became the best book to me, followed by A grief observed by Lewis and Love, Aubrey by Suzzane Lafleur.
Thats Daniel Handler(Lemony Snicket).......i loved the 'series of unfortunate events'

Get fooled!, how?
They take everything literally as if will workout for everyone and as if it was the only book out there.

There are questions like,Did the author became rich by their own teaching? . The few years before the book came out, he wasn't rich at all. He made his money from the book and his good marketing of the book. Even after being rich, Kiyosaki's company went bankrupt, this means his own teaching didn't work for him or reading only the book doesn't make you rich.

The concept like buying house/owing house is a liability cause many of his followers went broke and they are now homeless.
