Nairobiwalker. This is not necessary. Iwant to inform Gu that GE , which entered the kenyan market last years is talking about developing 1000MW of solar power in kenya. But i do not know when.

..If Tanzania wins, then Kenya wins too. There are a lot of Kenyan companies that have invested in Tanzania. If I am not mistaken, Kenya ranks as # 2 among foreign investors in Tanzania.

So what are you telling us? Kenya is funding an estimated 680MW of geothermal power from its own resources. That is in addition to another 300MW already commissioned last year and the year before.Uganda is also funding karuma hydro capacity 750 MW from its own resources. Sometimes you guys don't get it. We do not need America to come calling so that build the next project. We can do it ourselves.

the issue here is not to have most ambitious projects on paper but to raise funds the Karuma dam project has not yet secured funds though Chinese banks have shown interest considering their interests on oil deposits there. The same applies to Kenya that is finding even harder to convince investors. Just to give u a hint Yana is puting up over US$800 mio fertilizer plant in Mtwara just after Dangote's US$600mio cement and Malaysian US$800 mio petrochemical factory! Whereas over US$10 bio. an LNG factory has been confirmed by both Statoil and Exxon Mobil and seems they want to build separate for over 45TCf of proven gas reserves on TZ coast...
BTW new updates for our iron ore reserves have been revealed and TZ has over 5 bio tons of that reserve and Chinese have committed over US$4 bio. worth of investment! BTW how is Konza techno city doing? Supposed to start this year how much of US$10 bio. needed have been raised so far?

Last time I checked, Kenya had the highest HDI in East Africa while Tz had the second lowest beating only Burundi so I don't get where you guys get this idea of Tz having better living standards than Kenya.

As u can see my argument is not centered in what happens in Nairobi but the lager economic metropolis. The Khat industry being one example i believe UK may have voluntarily sabotaged Kenya on a mere technicality just to pass a message. That move leaves 500,000 livelihoods in a limbo.
This leaves us with one choice, Go EAST, but we don't need to announce in front of a diplomatic counsel dinner as we witnessed the other day that we going east.
About VAT, the president has better advisors giving him requisite economic counsel as of to the possible consequences of the VAT bill. That VAT bill will raise costs of living whose ripple effects will affect even lending/existing credit rates soon after its conception. Its a bill telling off investors.....before inflation normalizes, its damage may have already surpassed the benefits.
I recommend your remedy, strengthen our institutions, seal KRA loop holes and keep watch on devolution as we amend the bill while coercing Tullow to fire up those engines and fast..

you remember immediately after market forces and the euro-zone economy began dropping into a free-fall mode, there was uncertainty and kenya took a two-pronged eastward face shift policy and not only did we do it to neutralize the west's bigotry/imperial re-impositioning. Right now, I think our CIC is obviously more absorbed in resolving our internal problems and nation building than arranging for photo-ops. though, populist elements propped up for sale within our political circles are free to run around upto america or russia for photo-ops, but our resolve is to remain neutral;

The egyptian army might have a point on morsi, though he might have been, democratically elected; but govt systems founded on Islamic religious precepts or any other religion, normally have a very weak foundation, we probably witnessed Libya being the latest casualty example.

On LGBT, Kenya is a very young nation in comparison to america. The digital divide btn Kenya and the US is wide; and the character of the US society is multi-dimensional. Even so, I understand and do not deny that there are some of the homogenous societies within kenya that can match up and appreciate Johnny's multidimensional character. nevertheless, We are still very much driven be traditions and norms.

Otherwise, believe what is happening will bear fruits, source for new markets, create new trade routes, railways, road networks and increase the capacity of our port handling facilities...

Lest we forget Kenya has existed way back b4 the OBAMA and the ICC phenomena, and it will remain solid as kenya even after he exits the scene and this dark ICC cloud vanishes.
