The football world was left shaken by the terrible news of former Newcastle midfielder Cheick Tiote's tragic passing on Monday.


Unconfirmed reports of the player collapsing in training with new side Beijing Enterprises, never to regain consciousness spread a fair amount of panic.

We had hoped that the reports would turn out to be false. But unfortunately, football did lose a great player, and he will certainly be missed by his family, peers, past teammates and everyone he worked with during his 19-year career.


Tiote's wife is also said to be expecting the birth of their child this week, which makes the event even sadder.

After being informed of the news of the player's passing, commiserations poured forth on social media. Our thought is to his family and friends and to his all lovely one in this dark hour, R.I.P
