Kumbuka electrification ya Mombasa-Nairobi SGR Kenya was to cost $400 mln!Utata ulikuwa kama ifuatavyo:

Pia nadhani ktk substations wataweka pia emergency generators as well just incase.
Btw, Umeme wenyewe unaohitajika kuendeshea trani wala sio mwingi ni approx. 25 KVA
Ahaa nimeipata:
Power for locomotives and rail facilities
The railway will be electrified. Locomotives will be powered by 25 kV MV. For this purpose 7 Traction Power Substations (TPS) and 28 Auto Transformer Substations (ATS), whose locations are not determined yet, shall be installed along the line. The necessary 220 kV High Voltage Transmission lines supplying power to these substations will be provided by TANESCO.
Source:
- Alternative of selection of other feasible route. The EIA assessors analyzed five potential routes, as following:
1) Tapping from nearest point of existing 132 kV TL to each of the SGR substations
2) Tapping from nearest point of existing 220 kV Ubungo- Morogoro TL to each of the SGR substations
3) Tapping from nearest point of existing 220 kV Kinyerezi-Morogoro TL to each of the SGR substations
4) Dedicated 132 kV Kinyerezi – SGR- Msamvu transmission line 5) Dedicated 220 kV Kinyerezi – SGR- Msamvu transmission line
Je unakumbuka utata ulikua unatokana na wapi, manake hii ulioleta inadhihirisha kile tulichokua tunasema
Maana ya "build" ndio hujui ama nini? Hapo juu wamesema vizuri ati transmission line will be build by TANESCO.

But why should transmission line cost be factored in the electrical SGR cost? Isn't transmission line the duty of an electrical company? Assuming we r factoring in the $150 mln for TL still the cost will be lower in comparison to ur diesel SGR! 1.2 bln + 1.9 bln=3.1+0.15= $3.25 bln! Then add says $400 mln for locomotives! then u get $3.65 bln for Dar-Makutupora (336+205) 541 km which less than the cost of $3.8 bln for Mombasa-Nrb diesel SGR of length 472 km!

This is not a question of who is the distributor of power in Tz, this is a question of who pays for a transmission line that is used by 1 single customer.
TANESCO's job would have been to get power the SGR, e.g to Dar substation, pugu substation, ruvu substation....etc using existing power distribution lines found nearby - however they see fit.
However in this case, TANESCO was basically ordered to build a separate dedicated transmission line using its own money to be used exclusively by the SGR. Therefore the cost of building the TL can be added on top of the $1.9B project since no other customer can use the transmission line.
But Tanzania Railways is a customer right? BTW the cost of Dar-Morogoro is $1.2 bln n not $1.9bln! $1.9bln is the cost for Morogoro to Makutupora! As we speak Tanesco is building not less than 4 TL across the country n longer than Dar-Moro!
Ina-serve purpose right? Ina Ukuta ina folklifts, ina rail lines na ina security facilities!Hii inakaa local aje,
