Maybe you knew it; Perhaps you didn’t; there is this former series of Austrian AC-electrics that is homeless on a regular basis. In 2016, they went to Romania and in 2018 back to Austria for the now demised, Zeller Transport Technik (ZTT). This time, they don’t just switch countries – they switch continents. The emblematic series 1014/1114 of ÖBB will work in Tanzania.
Last week, Railcolor News brought up
the curious case of the Former Milwaukee Talgo trainsets ending up in Nigeria. As it turns out, another African country, Tanzania, will be the new home of the Austrian series 1014 electrics. In September 2021, Tanzania Railways Corporation acquired the locomotives last used by ZTT – an Austrian operator that is no more.
The first shipments (1014 003, 008, 010, and 011) were already spotted last year. However, thanks to Kai-Florian Köhn, we bring you a fresh visual, featuring 1014 014 being transported by DB Cargo Deutshcland via Nürnberg & Seelze to Bremerhaven-Kaiserhafen. The image below was taken in Hannover:

Notice the green text on the frame, seen on the image below, which reads “SGR Test Locomotive”? This gives away the fact that the locomotive is going to Africa. “SGR” stands for Standard Gauge Railway – Tanzania’s newly built standard gauge network.

Curious fact: In Tanzania, the Austrian locomotives will unite with
former DB Dosto trainsets (DBz 751 / DABz756 cars) that were seen prepped up for export also last year.
While the use of morally outdated and potentially very hard-to-maintain machines is a logic many would have hard to understand, a low acquisition price may potentially explain this curious development. After all, it is better to see a locomotive switch to a different country (or even continent) which is always better than getting scrapped.
Update 22.02.2022
Literally on the next day, the loco was spotted in Seelze, where this nice portrait was taken by

[AT / Expert] Zeller Transport Technik testing with former ÖBB 1014s [updatedx2]
By Railcolor Headquarters
22 October 2018
Our experts know: the 1014s are back in Austria. Today a quartet made a tour with 1014.003 + 1014.004 working and 1014.010 + 1014.016 towed. The 003 already has the logos of its new owner.
Do you remember
the fantastic video of these machines from 2016? In November 2016, sixteen 1014 series locomotives were transported to Romania (1014 002-005 and 007-018) – and then nothing happened. At the end of August / early September, they all returned to their new owner: Zeller Transport Technik.
These locomotives were used in regular services until 2009. There is currently no authorization to operate these locomotives in Austria.
Note that the NVR-registration of the locomotives had to be changed (from an old 93 .. to a 91 .. NVR number) – and thus, the check digit changed. On the fronts, the numbers were replaced by new ones in a different (DIN 1451) font.

update 22.10.2018: “150 Jahre Kronprinz Rudolf Bahn” in Knittelfeld
Last weekend the Kronprinz Rudolf Bahn celebrated its 150th anniversary. Part of the festivities was a line-up in the round house of Knittelfeld. Part of the line up were these electrics: 1245.525, 1110.015, 1142.643, Vectron 1293.001, Taurus 1116.159, ZTT 1014.010, 1144.104 und die 1067.03. Note that the 1014 010 has a ZTT front logos now.

MY TAKE
The article has nothing useful as the heading suggests, the page sounds like a locomotive version of planespotters blog! Nothing tangible about when was the locomotives actually acquired and by who and from who rather than implicating TRC! Pia nimeona wanadai kuna hizi DB Dosto trainsets (DBz 751 / DABz756 cars) zilisafirishwa kuja Tanzania mwaka jana, vp kuna ukweli?
Wapuuzi wamekula fedha yangu! 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🙆♂️🙆♂️🙆♂️
