Dr Dre, y'all know the name. Does it get any more iconic? doubt it.
The man's said to be responsible for a million great things; Easy-E's, Ice Cube's, the N.W.A's, The D.O.C's, the Death Row's, Snoop Dogg's, Eminem's, 50's, Kendrick's, et cetera et cetera. But does he really deserve all that cred? Let's break a few down.
Easy-E and the N.W.A.
Dre talked Easy into rapping, no doubt about that. But if you really think about it, Easy was the only easy option around. Dre's initial plan, was to kick start with them NY boys who eventually choked out. Dre was no rapper, and he was still wreckin' with that crew. Cube was C.I.A too. So it's only Easy that could do it, and he's the one that had a lot to lose anyway. Therefore, Easy did it.
Easy blew up. Everybody that knew the lil guy, say he had that Easyfect on almost everybody around him. To cut the crap, N.W.A blew up because of Easyfect and Cube's pen. So why is Dre getting the lion share of creds, while he only had little (or seems so) in it compared to Easy and Cube? Beats me.
From this picture, you could tell who were the sh!t.
Death Row.
Dre gave DR it's first biggest record. Scratch that, Dre gave West Coast it's first biggest record. Chronic was the sh!t even the East couldn't front, no matter how bad they wanted to. Death Row and the whole coast took over the rap game after that. Then the Doggystyle and others followed up.
But the platform that made it all possible, was Suge's vision. If it wasn't for Suge, Dre woulda probably ended up being Easy's B! for the rest of his life (or Easy's for that matter). Suge saved Dre. Chronic was Snoop's & D.O.C's, as much as it's Dre's. Dre layed the tracks, them dudes pen'd them lyrics. Rest in history.
The Math.
What I'm tryna say is, Dre didn't have much of an option when he picked Em. Besides Jimmy's role, his Math was struggling, so what's the worse that coulda happened?
2001. "Another Classic".
Only Jay and Scott missing here.
So, compared to everybody that was involved, I'm not sure if Dre truly deserves as much creds.
Beats by Dre.
Make white friends. Smart white friends.
Straight outta Compton.
I guess what I'm tryna say is, Dre has achieved some godly things, no question. But there are many people that deserve much much credits than the main man, in all those things. It's only my opinion.
