Wanibugudhi na matamshi yako bana, kaongea kana kwamba Nairobi waijua kumbe ni mihemko tu.

About 80% of Nairobi cbd was planned and built from the late 60s to mid 80s after independence, by Kenyan technocrats fresh from learning abroad. The Nairobi wazungu waliacha and it's plan was a small and fledgling town. Cbd ilikua between kenyatta Avenue and haile Selassie road. Upper Hill was a forest, ngara and downtown an estate, na kina langata, buruburu, south b/C, etc were all uninhabited shrublands. Kibera was a slum for Africans then and was then at the border of Nairobi town coz wakoloni hawakutaka waafrika ndani ya jiji. Comparé that Nairobi with the current 1 ndio ujue wazungu waliplan a very small part

Nairobi iliyoachwa na mzungu huwezi kulinganisha na what was left on other East African countries. The Brit's left the structural development of the city centre, they left the map too. If you blacks didn't "SPOIL THE PARTY" na ile fujo ya mau mau, they would still be there to this day. Of course, paka akiondoka panya ana tawala, weusi wameongeza oneza vipande hapo Nairobi, but the British way of doing things especially in town planing still in lingering on Kenyans mind. if you manage to go places like London and compare that to Nairobi, you'll know what I'm taking about.

At East African independence, Uganda, also known as the Queen's crown was the most developed nation. Dar-es-salaam na Nairobi zilikua zatoshana kimaendeleo na ukubwa. Tazama hapa

Now to the other thing, Nairobi, Nakuru etc have good urban plans, something concurrent to what you see in the West because we are open to learning new things. Dar has no plan whatsoever because...

Kwa hiyo unataka kusema the British didn't do much for the development of kenya or Nairobi, unaongea na mtu aliyeishi Kenya in early seventies and who has been coming to Nairobi ever since. British hawa kujenga Dar, walikuta German's wameanza ila hawa kumaliza, na wao hawakutaka kujenga kitu chochote because Tanzania was just a territory not a colony. On the other hand Nairobi was home to them, they like the weather, na waswahili walikuwa wapole sana kwao. Why leave while you have everything, the land, the food, territory next door, money and the people to do your dirty work. In return, they end up moulding Nairobi into their own image. Kote unako ukisema in Kenya, Waingereza walishafika before Kenyans. Local kenyans they just modified what was already there no wonder when you pass some areas in Nairobi unafikiri your in some of neighbourhood za UK. Sasa ukisema UK didn't do anything for development of Nairobi sikuelewi. On the other hand, if you say Dar has no plan, labda niachie hapo, Mungu atupe uzima tuu, tatapata majibu baadae.
