Mbarawa wants Msalato International airport to be completed in a time
WORKS and Transport Minister Prof Makame Mbarawa has directed the contractor constructing Msalato International Airport in Dodoma to make sure they complete the project in time and with high quality standards.

He issued the directive here on Monday when inspecting the project progress undertaken by Sinohydro Corporation in collaboration with Beijing Sino–Aero Construction Engineering and China Jiangxi International Economic and Technical Cooperation.

“I would like to stress to all those supervising the airport project, including the Consulting Engineer, TANROADS and TAA that we must make sure the contractors implement the work to the required standards and if possible by June 2025 the project should be completed,” said Prof Mbarawa.

He pledged to visit the project from time to time to see its progress and added that the aim is to see whether the contractors implement the work in accordance with what was agreed in the contract agreement.

He explained that the airport is being built in two phases; the First Phase involves the construction of the runway, aprons, taxing-ways and installation of lights.

He said the Second Phase involves the construction of passengers’ buildings and other infrastructures.

The minister also thanked President Samia Suluhu Hassan for endorsing funds for implementing various infrastructure projects in the country.
He also called on the people to support the contractors in the project so that it is completed as quickly as possible.

Meanwhile, Dodoma Region TANROADS manager, Eng. Leonard Chimagu said that as of now the contractors were building the airport runway.

The construction of Msalato International Airport whose runway will be 3.6km long is expected to be completed in June 2025 costing 165bn/-.
