I have first hand information about kdf.since 2011 less than 400 soldiers died in the line of duty.
El adde was the only instance kdf lost a battle and the number of casualties is btwn 100 to 200 and this because the commander at the camp ignored intelligence. This happens even to more advanced militaries
Kulbiyo they repelled the attack though they suffered high number of casualties at around 50. at kulbiyo alshabaab lost over 1000 fighters in one battle.
The first town kdf took from alshabaab was Tabda hundreds of alshabaab died and only 1soldier was killed.
The second major Town was Belles kokani 20km from Tabda here British trained snipers provided long range support for the infantry.
Jillib was another major alshabaab strong hold which was taken by kdf
Dholbey,Ra'skamboni,Afmadow,Faffadam,Hayo,Arhmadow,Horsi,Hayo and Kismayu are just but a few among many that kdf liberated and none of them has ever been taken back.Normalcy returned to those towns paving way for NGOs and relief aid to reach the civilians

IEDS have caused over 66% of all coalition forces casualties in the Afghanistan war.
Uganda was bogged down in a six or seven block radius of Mogadishu for four years and only sortied out in late 2011 after Alshabaab numbers had been substantially reduced by the kdf in Southern Somalia.Mogadishu based fighters moved south to reinforce losing positions reducing pressure on the UPDF. The Afmadhow battle alone killed over 200 AS fighters. By the time Kismayu was captured a total of 3000 were dead. Mind you Ethiopia temporarily occupied Mogadishu but withdrew and the US,UN Western experience there early 90s was painful. Also Ug got a lot of help from US PMCs during their occupation but still couldn't make any headway. Apart from El Adde disaster i don't think we have ever suffered any serious losses.
