Ethiopia sasa ni nchi ya pili Afrika kwa ku-export maua. Kenya bado ni ya kwanza

Hehehe hawa majirani wavivu sana.

Very logical Observation.

mambo mengine iko beyond you intellectually,
1.arid kenya produces food almost equal to Tanzania... but the demand is huge compared to what we produce, so we import from other nations to meet around 10% of the demand.

2.Most of kenyan land is used to produce high value crops mostly for export, telling a farmer in Mt Kenya region to grow maize is an insult.. we would rather plant macadamia, avocados, miraa , holticultural crops, flowers etc and then buy cheap food from other sources.
That is what makes economic sense to us. "comparative advantage".

3.Kenyans are moving away from peasant farming as the economy advances, as opposed to TZ where there are so many peasant farmers each trying to produce their own food...in Kenya farmers produce what they can sell not what they can eat.

An example am a farmer, in my farm i can't waste my time and land growing maize... i will buy cheap maize from UG, Mexico and from other large scale maize farmers in Kenya..

If you see Kenyan traders buying maize and onions from TZ, just know we have not come to beg, its business.. you ban us from buying, we will buy from else-where.. you raise the prices more that the production cost in Kenya, we grow t meet demand..

IT'S BUSINESS MY FRIEND..

Hahahaha, with this type of reasoning, Kenya will continue face number of problems from tribalism, hunger, corruption, crime, police brutality, unemployment, you name it.

How can you concentrate with cash crops which can't give you enough money to buy food, remember that the most important basic needs are good and water, Kenya as a country doesn't have enough for its people, and doesn't get enough money from its exports of cash crops like flower and tea.

It is the responsibility of sane and accountable government to make sure that people produce enough food to feed the country before they think flowers and tea. You Kenyans are among fools in Africa, how can you neglect food production in the count while you know that Country can't import enough food for its starving population ultimately you end up losing lives?

Yes this is the reasoning that has made us a bigger economy than you , even though you have bigger and arable land.. and that is what makes economic sense.

If we all in east africa grow maize who will you be selling maize to?

nyinyi limeni mahindi sisi tulime maua , chai, macadamia na kadhalika...

We are moving away from peasant farming.... nyinyi bado mko 1963..where everyone grows his own food.

Mr inteligence, wait a bit.
What is wrong with the 3 mio people who are starving?
Mind you, you've said the arid kenya produces the food more or less than Tanzania.

With bigger economy still people are dying of hunger, with bigger economy still you don't have enough jobs for your people, bigger economy can't pay for its railway construction, bigger economy can't fight crime, bigger economy can't have better public transport in Nairobi, can't provide better and cheap houses for slum dwellers, can't even provide toilets for slum dwellers, there is no enough water in Nairobi. Is that you call it bigger economy?

While you are moving backwards in 1950s when femine was common, how can during this era of sophisticated technology you can't produce food to feed your people, still people are dying of hunger?, shame on you

what are you talking about? Kenya produces more agricultural produce than TZ...
shame on you too... huge arable land , yet we have a bigger value agricultural sector

continue consoling yourself ...

Nilienda once kule Naivasha maeneo ya Kongoni kwenye mashamba ya maua.. almost all of the farms are owned by Muzungus (Dutch and English, some Asians), they have beautiful lake front houses, ila ukitazama maisha ya wafanyakazi wa hayo mashamba kuanzia nyumba wanazokaa inasikitisha sana.

Yet an average kenyan lives a better life than a Tanzanian.

Faida ya minerals huko Tanzania inakulwa na wazungu, halafu nyani haoni kundule
