As Tanzania declines to issue work permits to Kenyans looking to come save their struggling companies, other global companies recognize talent when they see it.
Last year, Wikimedia foundation, the people behind Wikipedia, appointed Safaricom's Head of Corporate Communications, Kui Kinyanjui, to be their Vice President of Communications.
She had previously also worked for Business Daily and Ogilvy PR.
Kui now heads the department in charge of all their media presence and coverage, and is more often the face of Wikipedia on major TV and media interviews, like this on with CBS on Sunday.
(Wikipedia is the 5th most visited website in the world after Google, Facebook, YouTube and Baidu)
Remember even Elon Musk had employed a Kenyan as his Director of Engineering at Tesla, before he quit this month to start his own startup.
So, the question is, when will our neighbors open their eyes?
